Re: and on to project 3! (jenny breitrick)

Hi Jenny - You are thinking WAY outside the box here, and it makes your roughs rather compelling. I'd say go with whichever concept you personally like best, but I will say that they're both somewhat dark and moody. I'd look into ways of adding more color, or bright pops of color to enliven it.

Re: project 3 comp #1

Hi Campbell - Nice start, and you've chosen a great photograph to dominate the home page. I can't really offer any suggestions though until I see more.

Re: Project 3 Prelim Dylan Bivens

Hi Dylan - I think both of your concepts are solid, but I'm leaning toward the first set, where you have the transparent checkerboard pattern as a backdrop. I really enjoy the type in your GRC masthead and I think your pages have a nice sense of balance. I think any way that you can play up this ide...

Re: mark p. prelim

Hi Mark - I'm drawn to your circle concept. It's a really interesting design technique, and I like how you've used it on both pages. I do think that your color scheme needs some tweaking (it is really hard to make reds and greens work together), and the font you've chosen for the masthead is somewha...

Re: Project 2 final

The vibe on your redesign is right in line with what I'd want to see if I were an insomniac seeking a cure. It's calming, clean, and absolutely free of clutter. I think it's a great look.

Project 3 Preliminary Critique (Rebecca Baumann)

As I worked on thumbnails for this project, I came to a couple of conclusions about how I wanted this to look. First, I wanted to use a flat design style. Second, I wanted to use the TMCC color palette. Third, I wanted to incorporate icon-like illustrations. So, my two layouts below aren't really di...

Re: Project 1 and 2 FINAL

Hi Rachel - I really like what you did with the redesign for Reno Bighorns. Sports websites tend toward too much clutter, and you really cleaned it up, while giving them a much more compelling home page graphic. The only thing that seems out of place is the gray background. I'd be curious to see wha...

Re: finally...project 2

Hi Juan - Wow, you did a great job! You took something really ugly, and completely improved it. I think it was wise to ditch their butt-ugly logo and create your own masthead. I really like how you integrated the imagery into the background of the content areas. It's subtle, but it adds interest wit...

Re: project 1 and project 2 final!

Hi Mel - Your work feels really vibrant, and it stands apart from everyone else's. I think you are particularly good at picking colors, and using strong contrast to set it all off. If I have a criticism though, it's that both websites feel really similar. It's good to have a style, but you also don'...

Re: Nicole Hicks, Project Two Final

Hi Nicole - I like your use of the diagonal lines on the header and footer areas - that's my favorite part of the design. I would like to see more images of horses throughout the content area, since they're such appealing animals.
