Your first concept is my favorite of the two. I think if you added some color to the four blank shapes that would really give your homepage some flare. Nice work!

Justin, The first layout is organized well and I think the color choices blend nicely. Your second layout with the downtown image is really clean, although I think the positioning of the text just above your navigation buttons could be staggered differently without the overlap. Both of your designs are very cool. The layering of the separate images creates a lot of depth.

I think both of your roughs are visually interesting and the second one is the better layout for your home page. The second one has a lot more variety and dimension, nice work.
