Project 3 Prelims!

Post by mack_schneider »

Here are my roughs for 3 Bees Coffee! I'm aiming for a simplistic look with hints of color; something straight to the point might make this website easier to use.
I look forward to your feedback!

Hey Mackenzie,

Bees! Cuuuute!

I really like the colors you used in both your redesign versions. The little bee in the logo you made for your 2nd version is also very cute.
Overall I like your first version better. The 2nd versions background reminds me a little too much of floor tiles rather than honeycomb. I also think the general placement of everything is more visually balanced in your first version. However, in your first versions About Us page, I feel like it would look nice if you pulled the "About Us" text/bee as well as the chunk of text below it down a smidge.

I like that you still incorporated that honeycomb shape in the first design, but I really love how you use it as a frame for everything else. Very fun and cute layouts!

I love both concepts (so cute!!). I do feel like the first design (homepage-1-web) feels a bit like I am going to play an online game... so maybe I the second concept will bring out the website's purpose? Overall, beautiful work!

These are really pretty layouts. I think I would have to choose the second one because it gives more of a coffee shop vibe? I really like the colors and the font choices you went with the second one too.

Hi Mackenzie,
I think both concepts look great! I'm really liking your first layout with the mug. Also, there are some nice aspects from your second design you can incorporate in, such as the bee graphic. Maybe even add some honey around the boarder? The only thing I thought you could change is the body copy layout. Maybe place the body copy into columns to make it less heavy?

Hi Mackenzie!
I really like the honeycomb pattern and bee drawing in your second set of layouts- I think the home page should probably have more information on it, like showing the menu up front.

Oh nice! I really like the honeycomb as tile pattern in your "2" designs, Mackenzie. Go with those!

That honeycomb tile looks so neat. I can't decide it it's a tabletop or a backsplash. Either way it looks great. You've got a great use of contrast going here. The design is so clean and white that any little bit of color just pops right out. And those color choices are strong. They evoke both honey and coffee, which fits well with the theme of the website. Your type is well chosen, too. It's very clean and kind of antique. Makes the place feel like it's been around for a while. I like the little honeycomb buttons. They're a nice shape and draw attention to the pattern in the background. The coffee cup illustration at the bottom makes for a fascinating visual center. Your eye is drawn to it and then scans through the composition upward. Interesting. Your logo cracks me up, too. The bee looks so confused. "Since when did we make coffee?" Or he's "buzzing" from a cup too many!

Snag the images in your "1" designs and bring 'em over to your "2"s. Photos are always good to have. I'd also right align your bodycopy and add a little more space between your paragraphs. Add a hair more margin between your bodycopy and the buttons on your mobile layout too. Make sure all the type in your buttons is the same size. Make the top of the bodycopy paragraph on your computer home page line up with the top of the buttons. Move the paragraph and buttons up a bit on your mobile home page so that they are vertically centered between the coffee cup and the bar below the logo.

Nice work!

Hello
I love both designs. I am leaning towards the first one only because there is a lot of empty space in the second. If you being in the bee hive closer to the middle I wouldn’t be able to say which one is better than the other.
Good job

Great job with both designs! I really like the second design with the honeycombs. The design is clean and simple and the logos look nice. I feel like the body type on the "about" page could be bigger. Otherwise great work!

I like your second design, on the about_mobile design you might want to give the body copy a little more room.
