Hi Brandon,
The second layout background is fun and inspiring. It makes sense to use a creative background as the layout is for the Yale Arts Department. That original Yale site is a hot mess and your designs are orderly.

I think your about page rough is really good but I think the Y logo should be placed somewhere else. Maybe closer to the bottom of the page.

Hi there! Very cool designs and great imagery! I think your second design is more artsy and more fitting for the website. Also some areas are a little hard to read, maybe up the opacity on the text box.

Hi Brandon! Both of your layouts look great. It looks way better than the original website because it's clean, organize, and more relate to Yale. I would say it does not matter layout you choose.
