Project 1 final

Post by m1ggsart »

Hello everyone!
Here is my final version for project 1. I decided to go for my sketchbook concept. The structure remains almost the same. I changed the blue and green colors on the headline and the background color on the header since they were such a horrible choice. I am using a more neutral color this time. The background of the main section features some of my works with a gradient over them. The point of this was to make the navigation menu and the notebook with the main content pop up from the background. The fonts I am using now are Katari and marker felt. They kind of look like they were written by hand, and are readable from my perspective. I also removed the pencils that I had originally on the preliminary rough. They made the whole design look crowded. I made my navigation menu big enough to be noticeable and easy to navigate, and added small drawings next the section names. I tried using as many images to make my design look interesting while making sure it does not look crowded at the same time.
The mobile version of my website is more simplified version of the desktop one. I placed the navigation buttons with enough space in between. It has the same colors and the same fonts. The whole point was just to make it look organized, and professional.
Overall, I am happy with my designs so far. However, there is always a possibility my design might change in the future.

Here is a list of websites that I found inspiring and helpful to the development of my website.

Wow! You've really kicked the skeuomorphic notebook design up a notch!

That black top bar agrees much better with your image and the note card navigation was a strong modification. It brings your navigation front and center and makes the user's eyeballs engage with it. That makes navigating your website that much easier. The black top bar also lets the earth and plant tones of the background drawing stand out a bit more. In fact, the entire background drawing really comes alive and let's it's visual interest become part of your composition. And of course, the skeuomorphism of it all is just fun. The notebook looks good as always, though now the sketches fee better integrated that on your preliminary work, especially the icons next to your navigation.

I would have liked to see a little more of the background image on your mobile version, but I get why you didn't.

Excellent work!

Hi Miguel,

This looks great! I like the background image and the notebook and notebook paper being the navigation areas. The layout is clean and easy to navigate through. I like how your symbol at the top are the colors from the image. Makes for good continuity!

Great job,
Rebekah

Hi Miguel,
This looks amazing! Your layout for the navigation section as the notebook is such a smart decision. The icons on that navigation are great as well. This design has such a nice simple composition, yet so creative! nice work!

Hey Miguel!

I like how your name is clearly the focal point, which is good for a website about you! I think your sketchbook design is really neat too. I like that you added sketches to your paper! That's a nice touch. If anything, I would make your body text a size or two bigger, but that's just me nitpicking. Really good job.
