Heya Nicole.

On the first one, I do like the crosshatch background. It looks like a wave to me and my eye just floats along until I hit your links, which I like. That is an amazing picture of yourself that you chose to use, and I would actually try to make that the focal point of this page, instead of the pictures of your artwork. You're right, those pictures do compete with the copy and I feel overwhelmed and uncertain about where to start or even look. I kind of want to know you, the gal behind the work, before I see the work, so I can get an idea of where it's all coming from. Also, the color of your text is a little hard to read against your background. I do like the font you're using for your title and links, but it's hard to read in the smaller size you're using for your copy too. Maybe using a plainer font for all of that info would help.

On the second, I like the whole idea of the design. The paint palette at the top is a little simple, but I really like how you put the "o" of your last name on it so it looks like an empty spot just waiting for some color. The colors work well and overall it's very clean and neat. One thing that immediately draws my eye is that there's so much white, and you have an amazing opportunity to put some real color on here with those picture frames. Leaving them blank until you get snapshots of your work is fine, but really color in those frames to add some snap to the whole thing. Especially the frame of your own picture, because you're using a black and white picture and it's just too much white. Or maybe try coloring the pictures and leaving the frames white. Also not a big fan of the font you're using for your copy; it's fun but the smaller size is still hard to read.

Personally, I like the second one better!

The first layout is very well done. The color scheme works well and the arrangement is logical and easy to follow. I do like the idea of your photo being larger and making your bio paragraph smaller.

HI Nicole,
Your first concept is my favorite of the two. I think if you added some color to the four blank shapes that would really give your homepage some flare. Nice work!

Hi Nicole.
I see that you have a strong concept in both of your layouts. I found more interesting the first one...I think because the scheme color and because it reflects more about you. I can suggest that could be a good idea if you play with both layouts and combine them a little bit, means i would like the idea that you put the art in the second one into the frames of the first one and your pic also could be in the first layout. I had problems with reading your body-copy may because the type face that you choose is more like for a headline rather that a body-copy.

You did a good job. I like the first one better.

Hi Nicole!

Both of your layout are cool. I tend to like the first one best. The colors you used and the ilustrations on the navigation buttons grabed my attention. Good job keep it up!

Definitely going for the first one, your use of mirrors as image holders is very unique and has that personal feel to it, and the colour scheme you chose works to contrast each end of the design without overwhelming other elements of it. You're right in that the second design is very cluttered, it almost seems as though it were thrown together. It would still work if you chose a lighter colour for your font and a way for it to be separated from the background, and maybe try making your images into shapes or grouping them closer together so it doesn't look like they're floating.

The first one is good it is very original but I would make it so the frames are different colors and widths.

Hi there~ I really like design one -- the use of the different frames around each like is a very creative idea. The overall feel to this page is very relaxing and the design is well thought out. Also, the brick wall background is a nice touch too, especially how the logo with the paintbrush is painting the wall. Very creative idea there. I just really feel strongly that this design gels so well that I have no suggestion on any improvements to this design. Very nice work. This would be my choice of the two.

On design two, I like all of the images that are placed around the page, and the script typeface gives the page an artistic flair. The only suggestion I have for this design is that the drop shadows on the paragraph fonts, combined with the color and the background make it difficult to read. I'd keep the typeface, keep the background, remove the drop shadow and change the text color so that there is higher contrast with the background.

Very nice work. A

Hello Nicole,
I like the second design. The idea of having the frames as the links works very well. I do agree with the idea of adding images to the frames to make it more interesting.

The first layout is really nice. I like to painters feel you gave it. THe only thing I would change is playing with your yellow gradient, perhaps have it cover more of the page? I really love the zig zag alignments and color chooses!
