Nicole,
I like the first one; I think that it is a much better layout and that the type doesn't get lost against the background like it does in the other design. If you are going to place photos in those frames i think the could be a little bigger, but I do like them staggered. I like the profile pic , but i do think you could add a little more space between that and the body paragraph. Also the body paragraph is a bit long. Maybe you could break those up a bit by using a gutter and a column system. Really nice work as usual!

I prefer the second design, but I think you should switch the side of the page that the pic is on.
