Project01 final

Post by Chloe_(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ »

Hello my name is Chloe, I'm a graphic design student at TMCC (obviously :D) and I'm in my fourth year of study aiming to get my bachelor's in graphic design. I live in Reno here with my dog and ever since coming to Nevada, I experience chronic dry and bloody noses.

I love nature and in my final, I put a lot of forest imagery into the background and as the backdrop of my picture. I used all cool colors as I am partial to them, but I made sure to use a light green for my text against a dark navy-blue background so I don't have contrast issues. I also made my layouts very simple so it would be easy to navigate around the page by using big icons that are labeled as well as some universally recognized icons like a phone or an envelope.

For my websites, I found one that provides website templates and one that teaches you how to code. I was trying to get inspiration from the templates on Vista Print and I also wanted to see how a website was styled around teaching coding (w3schools.com). I also just went to Google Images and looked at several portfolio home pages to get ideas.

Nicely done, Chloe Tableflipper. You managed to make the TMCC logo not suck. Quite a feat.

You've done a great job touching this thing up without messing with what made it cool in the first place. I love all the detail and depth you have in it. That background photo establishes such an atmosphere and then you sampled your colorschemes from both it and your portrait. That ties both the photos together as well as the objects in your composition. Your drop shadows do a great job of adding depth the the whole thing. And your contrast is spot on with your whites somehow not looking too stark against the dark purple/blue. I'd say it's the teal drop shadow that's doing it. Everything is also nicely laid out and your skeuomorphic folders arer easy to see and presumably to use. They're well placed to snag the eye, too.

I still think your bodycopy is a wall of text, and could do with a reformatting.

Excellent work!

Hi Chloe
Your design turned out pretty cool. I like your use of colors and contrast. The photograph in the backgrpund looks pretty nice too. The whole layout is organized and easy to navigate. The only thing I would suggest is to modify your body copy a little. Maybe trying to simplify the paragraphs, and change the size of the font a bit bigger. Overall, the whole design looks pretty cool.

Hi Chloe,
Nice work I love the dark color scheme. I do love the detail you put into the folders and drop shadows. I do agree with the other students, simplifying that paragraph will make it a much easier read! Great job keep going! I am excited to see this as a functional website.

Hey Chloe!

I like the colors you used for your website. I like the forest pictures you used in the background. I think that your body font is a bit small. I think your site is well laid out. I think your navigational buttons are cool. Good job!

Hello Chloe!

I have nosebleeds all the time here too!

Your layouts have gotten a lot cleaner and I like them quite a bit. The colors are moody, personality and good for October.
I see that your contact buttons are pretty spread out, and on the mobile if someone tried to click it might be hard to reach with their thumb. If you brought those closer together and let them travel as you scroll it would be awesome.
Thank you,
