Hello fellow classmates, My name is Michele and at 50 something I decided to go back to school so I can hopefully escape the drudges of retail. After this semester I will have one more year until I get my AAS in Graphic Communications. I grew up as an airline brat and used to travel often growing up. I am a former desert racer and a typical California girl who also liked to surf. I have two, two year degrees from the early 1980's one in Air Transportation and the other in Criminal Justice. I first moved to Reno 25 years ago and since then have lived in Iowa (twice), California (again), and Oregon. I moved back to Reno in 2011. I have one daughter at UNR, 3 dogs and 3 cats not going to UNR.
Looking forward to getting to know those that I do not already know.

Re: Guten Tag!
Well, guten tag right back 'atcha there. Welcome to GRC 175! The skillset you learn in here will definitely get you out of retail. A combination of graphic design and front end development (programming) skills is very in demand. If you get good at it, you'll have no trouble landing a job. Plus, you'll get to show off your work anywhere in the world. The web is awesome like that.
It sounds like you have an interesting life story there, as well. I look forward to seeing how it influences your design.
