Hi Grace:

Love both designs. I'm really drawn to the "project1_prelim1.jpg" design. This is the type of designing I hope to eventually be able to do. I will often start with a background like the one in your "project1_prelim1.jpg", but I get overwhelmed and start defaulting to my 'bluish' scheme and end up abandoning designs like this one. Really nice job!

I have no suggestions for your designs. I would have to make stuff up if I were to suggest improvements. I like them just the way they are (I hope Michael allows me to do that on occasion). They both have very different visual ways to provide the same content, and are both very well designed.

Hi Grace,

Love both of them. Colors are great and eye catching. I am leaning towards the prelim 1. The only thing I see is at the footer part of the end text gets lots in the white in the background. Other than than that you can't go wrong with either layout.

Grace,

Your second design is amazing, I love the picture and colors! I struggle to find an element that needs to be changed, maybe make your email address the same color as your name? It would make it stand out even more. Great job!

The first design is good as well but the second is my favorite :) You did a great job with the colors, using complementaries. Just add your About page and it will be perfect!

Hello Grace,
I am really loving you second design, the colors are very eye catching and lively. I'd suggest that you increase the size of your name and move it up to the corner a bit more. The fade in's of your nav bar are also really neat! Great job!

Hi Grace,

I have to agree that the second one is more interesting. At first, when it was small on the page, I thought it was too busy, but when I made it bigger that wasn't a problem anymore. I also agree with Michele about the footer, maybe move it over so the white text isn't on top of the white part of the image?

Ooooh. That second one is awesome! The aesthetic is really strong and immediately established. It has a fun nightclub vibe that grabs you and takes you dancing.

I really like the movement of the full screen background image. The whole composition moves with it. Your navigation bars seamlessly blend into the photo and carry on the movement. Your navigation is both an integral part of the design and a super easy way to move around the website. Your colors are well chosen and reflect the colors in the photo. Your headline and navigation type are just as well chosen and catch the eye within all the movement. Nice placement on the headline too.

My only issue with it is the serif type. It looks out of place. I'd swap it with a lighter version of the sans-serif type used in your email link.

Nicely done!

hello Grace,

I like both designs but I think the first one is too simple. The second one is really good I like the colors and the positions bring my eye to the page really easy. I know you can play more with the design but I think I would change the name to capital letters or use a different kind or type. I think also I would play more with the effects to bring more attention to the type. I think you did a good job with this project.

Hey!

I have to agree with most replies when they say that the second design is stronger. I feel like the colors in the background image and the transparent portion of the navigation boxes work really well together. I think you should put more emphasis on your name in the corner, or something that will draw your eye to that area first so that way we know who's page this is. Other than that I think it works well as a whole!
