Hello Courtney,
That cat is so adorable! As a crazy cat lady, it made me very happy! :)
I really enjoy how warm and welcoming your design is. Perhaps the presence of the cat makes it feel cozy even. Maybe the only thing that could be changed is the navigation: the boxes for your categories don't have an even spacing around the words. By that I mean: "Home" and "Contact" have a smaller margin than for the Projects.

I still don't see a signature on your posts, mystery person.

You've certainly chosen a bright well contrasting colorscheme. It works very well to sell the cutesy theme you have going on. You're super-animu chibi self portrait goes a long way to selling the theme as well. I like the marker calligraphy font, too. It says arty and creative which is, I think, the other thing you were trying to sell here. At least that's what the sleeping kitty and butterflies are trying to tell me anyway. The font is very readable without sacrificing too much legibility. Your navigation is large and easy to see and use, although I don't think it need to be in boxes. Compositionally, everything is well placed and easy to find and my eye moves smoothly throughout the space.

I'm not necessarily sure everything needs to be in boxes. I think your background red with white type was contrast-y enough. You can create sections by just using object placement. Even if you do need to use boxes, you've got way too much padding at the top and bottom of your content box and not enough on the sides. Also, your margin from your title to your content box is super tight.

Good effort!

Hi Courtney:

I like the way all of your colors are a form of red. It all plays really really well together. I also think the smaller 'home' & 'contact' buttons are a super nice touch. It really emphasizes the 'project' buttons, which are the gateways to the cool stuff your site is taking us to. I guess if I have to make a suggestion, maybe make the 'home' button the same size as the 'contact' button? But in all honesty, it works perfectly just the way it is with the 'home' button a wee bit smaller.

Hi Courtney,

I like the fun feel of your website and the layout and color choices. I think I would of made the text boxes the same size and I would have taken away the white box around your body text. The contrast of the red and dark red offers a nice contrast and think the white border isn't necessary. Think the kitty would have taken more of the spotlight too with the white border gone.

Hey Courtney! Great design concept overall! I like how the cat kind of gives the layout some depth, the way that it lays on top of the text frame like that. I really like the character in the top left too, it reminds the viewer that they art looking at an art oriented or design oriented website.
Someone else mentioned the frames around the links. I do agree they could be played with a lil' but I think you could pull it off with very minimal changes. Try some re-sizing and maybe play with the corners of the frames to create a slightly rounded corner or something if you decide to use the boxes at all, but don't get me wrong I really think it all works very well and conveys the site of a person who's passionate about design and is well thought out in their approach to it, i'm sure. Great Job!

Hi Courtney,

I'm glad you went with this design, I think your improvements are working. I would suggest working on the body copy. There are lines that end, seemingly for no reason, if you tighten that up, it'll pull the page together.

Hey sorry about the late reply! I like how with this design you kept the colors all very similar using different shades and tints of red, I think that it helps to keep it really uniform! I would have to agree with some and say that the body copy could use some work, i feel that there might be to heavy of stroke on the letters and it makes it a little difficult to read.
