Project 1 Final

Post by gracelark »

I chose my first design, which was pretty much unanimously preferred. I did enlarge my name slightly, and updated the description text. It is consistent with what I think is surfacing as my 'design style'; a zoomed-in portion of an original photo which sets a mood. I used Futura condensed bold for my name/navigation, and Futura standard light for description text. Thank you for your input.

Nicely done, Grace. You took all the positives of your second design from the preliminary work and tweaked out the couple of bad things.

It still possesses all the motion and dynamism of the first design. The color scheme still attracts and excites. Your navigation is still easily found and used while blending seamlessly with the rest of the composition. You pulled the serif type and replaced it with a sans-serif type. This gives greater uniformity throughout your design as well as giving it a cleaner feel. Heck, the whole composition makes me want to visit wherever this is.

My only gripe is that the text vanishes into the highlights in a couple of spots. Otherwise, this looks very good to me.

Excellent work!

Hi Grace,
Great design, it looks nice! I really like the colors you chose to work with, and how you positioned the text (for example "About me"). Was it intentional the omission of ".com" at your email address?

Hi Grace:

I love how you put things on top of stuff. :D It makes the nav area seem as if it is growing out of the background image and not just put on it. I'm also a big fan of strategically placed lower case letters. Nice job!

Hi Grace,

I really like the look of this design. Visually appealing. The only thing is that some of the text disappears into the background/highlighted area. Love it

Hi Grace! Very good idea for a home page; it's simple, uninterrupted in it's message and conveys a lot of emotion through your color usage. It reminds me of a My Bloody Valentine Record cover or something which is very cool!
If I were to suggest anything it would be to maybe play with the placement of Spring/2017 part of the class footer as it gets a lil' lost in the lighting of the photograph right there. Great Job!

Hi Grace,

Nice job! I usually don't like the colors but they're working really well here. The photo is a good choice, all the movement makes my eye move all over the page. The only thing is that the two light spots at the bottom are distracting, I keep stopping there. Maybe darken those up a little, other than that, it looks good.

Hi Grace!

I love you design! The colors, the layout, they just work great together! My only critique would be is maybe play around with the fonts a little bit more on your tabs they just seems a little to jumble.

I don't really have anything to critique about your final design! I still really like the use of color in the background that is contrasted with the lighter text in the still colorful boxes, and I think the improvements on the type and your title really improve it and make it easier to read!
