Howdy everyone! Here's my two website and mobile concepts. For my first concept I was inspired a lot by site designs that used a single image as the entire screen background, I felt it was visually interesting wile still being very clean-looking.
For my second I wanted a more fun one inspired by illustration portfolio sites, so I sketched the background and themed everything to look sort of hand drawn, since illustration is my favorite hobby.

Hi Jessica,
I absolutely love your little character! The landscape layout is nice too, but I think the cartoon shows off your skills and just elicits more of an emotional response from me anyway.
You maybe could experiment with an accent color just to see what it might do.

Hi Jessica,
I think your first design with the little character represents you the best. Plus it is very creative! Your second design doesn't have the same pizzaz. I think for your first design you should make your body copy aligned in the middle. It is a little off to the side on the mobile version. Also, maybe make the body copy a little lighter by using color or lowering the opacity to balance it.

Hello! I really like your second design better. I like that you used a full backdrop and the colors are beautiful. I think your choice of type is great! Your name is bit too large and same with the body copy type, maybe play with that a bit more. Otherwise, its a great start!

Hey Jessica, fantastic work on both designs! Both designs get the job done and could be used. I think the one with the little drawing character would be your better one because it represents your passion for drawing and design. It's simple and easy to navigate around. There is nothing that I would want to change to it, besides centering the text a little bit more. In the mobile design if you slapped that body copy in the middle of that empty space it would create equal margins and make it look slightly better.

Hi Jessica,
Thanks for both these designs. I would say both are great, it's just a matter of what represents the message you want to make. I would choose the first design as it pertains to a creative sense and the second layout is open with the landscape image. I guess a choice would be the first animated character layout because it would help the viewer think creative too. I hope this helps and it works out great.

Hello Jessica, I really like the illustration in your first layout. I also really like the square buttons in your second layout too. I think combing that in with the first one's layout would look really nice.

Purple is such a great color Jessica!
I am in love with both designs. The first one with the cartoon is so cute and the second design is just so aesthetically pleasing. Both designs show great arrangements in their layout. I cannot choose which one you should do because they are both working well on their own. I have no problem on fonts and colors! Awesome job!

Re: Project 01 Prelim Roughs
I'm usually a fan of super-professional picture websites like your second design, but I really like your first sketchbook looking one better, Jessica. It makes me laugh.
Cartoon You immediately establishes that this is going to be a fun website that doesn't take itself too seriously. The handwriting font used in your title and navigation helps reinforce that. The entire design has a "just jotted down" feel that is very inviting. I like the purple color too. It makes the whole thing seem like it was sketched with a pastel of some sort and adds a texture to your design. The off white paper colored background completes it. You use margin really well on both your mobile and computer roughs. Your computer rough is right at the edge of fragmenting, but you keep it on this side of the line. The enlarged Cartoon You and the though bubbles really. tie the whole thing together.
I'm not sure it needs the contrasting blue. I think having it be all tints and shades of the purple would help enhance the sketchbook look. I also think your bodycopy would look just fine left aligned on your mobile layout.
Excellent work!
