Project 1 - Final Version

Post by Gr8K8 »

Hello and Happy Friday Classmates!

I am Kaitlin and I present to you my layout designs for project #1.
For my this set of designs I was really trying to go for a personal scrapbooky kind of design. My mom did a lot of scrap-booking while I was growing up and I still enjoy going through them. Both my inspirational links helped me in moving in this direction. They gave me a lot to consider when choosing how I wanted to incorporate the textured elements into my design.

For my final versions I changed the following:

I made the TMCC logo a little smaller, and adjusted the positioning a bit.

I have moved the Nav Buttons into the center and tried to put each one on their own cloud. I've also made them the Impact font, like my header, and adjusted their size.

For my body copy - I added the actual text and played with the size a little - giving me greeting a slightly larger font for hierarchy.

I also tweaked my footer fonts a bit, added a slight drop shadow, and remembered to add my contact info this time around.

Let me know what you guys think!

Wow,

I love the poppy background with your ripped page name in the header. IT IS A FUN LAYOUT THAT STAYS INTERSTING. Caps got hit. Thanks for posting your layout and keeping it creative.

Hi Kaitlin,

These are just super enjoyable to look at! There's so much to see and yet it doesn't feel overcrowded at all. The cloud nav definitely looks more balanced now. Fantastic job!

Hi Kaitlin, this is creatively adorable. I love that you chose to go with pressed flowers to match the crafty look of your website. It's speaking a lot about yourself. Good job.

Awww yeah! The scrapbooking one!

The sheer texture of this design pleases something deep in me. It really feels like a page of a scrapbook or a haphazard shelf at an antique store. The layout is so simple and the texture does all the heavy lifting in terms of visual interest. And it works! Your type is still working well too. The alignment? Still doing great work organizing everything. I think the alignment is the stealth MVP here. While everyone is looking at your design, the crisp alignment of everything keeps they laout working in the background. That color scheme is borderline chaotic, but it fits well with your theme. I like the new navigation better. Having each button be it's own cotton ball feel more organized to me.

The right edge of your email is a little close to your pressed flowers. on your mobile design. I'm not sure you need that drop shadow/dark outer glow behind the contact info either.

What a great look. Nice job!
