Hello everyone! This is Trixia here, and the website I will be redesigning is: https://www.lingscars.com
I want to apologize in advance if this website damaged your eyes, but you gotta admit there are some pretty good stuff in there (lol). BUT because there are so much stuff in this website, my main goal is to organize and make the website less chaotic... maybe WAY less chaotic. However, I wanted to make sure the website maintain its purpose. For instance, it seems like Ling wanted her website to be "extra" and fun! The website itself is welcoming and enjoyable, but it's just too much to go around with. In this case, I am going to redesign the website to make it more modern, yet different--while trying to maintain the site's purpose.
The first layout uses a bright color palette, emphasizing more on the orange and blue. I chose these colors because I want to show that Ling's website is all about being creative and fun. I chose Impact as the font because it seems like Ling loves using bold fonts, so in order to make it a little more professional, I think Impact is the right choice. The sub-font is Avenir, just tryna make that san serif font look correspondent with Impact and be readable on screen.
The second layout is like.... realllyyy simple. I was trying to go for a layout in which you can view different cars on the homepage (kind of like a slideshow). I chose green because on the original website, I noticed that my eyes keep locking on whatever that is green? So, I used a less saturated green (more like pastel) for the background. I also used the same fonts from the first layout because I think the fonts work well together.
Sorry if I typed too much, I just wasn't sure what I was supposed to share... so yeah... thanks. xo <3

I really love both designs for your page! I think the top design is your stronger design. I think the orange and blue really compliment each other and it's appealing to look at. The info is clear and the images are placed nicely. There isn't really anything I would change to your top design. Great work!

Hi Trixia,
I really like both designs and how fun each of them are! I think your first one is the strongest. The blue and the tan goes really nice together. Also, the way you incorporated the imagery, it gives the design nice movement! Only thing I would watch out for is the resolution of the photos. They seem a little blurry! All in all, good job!

Hi Trixia,
Your designs are definitely an improvement from the original -- That is one wacky site! You did a great job of reducing the clutter and making the website's purpose much more clear. I think in keeping more with your "client's" style, you might consider adding a bit more movement to the designs (like how you have that one piece of slanted text in the green layout and the slanted rocket in the blue and orange layout).
Nice work!

Hi Trixia!
I like the top designs colors, and the choice for the banner picture I think still keeps the more wacky vibe the business gives. I think it looks a little off having the banner image cut off in the mobile version, maybe there's a way to arrange it to it's like the desktop version and doesn't show that edge? Otherwise I think you did a good job repressing them while cutting out all the mess!

I'm always amused to see who gets Ling's Cars each semester. Looks like you won the lottery this time, Trixia!
And you've done a good job with it! Your "01"s are clearly superior. Use that layout. I like how you've captured the zany offbeat spirit of the original website while making something that doesn't shave months off of your life just looking at it. My favorite bit is Ms. Ling just chillin' in various places around the website. I mean, there she is on the home page with her missile launcher doing her best Kim Jong-un impression. Who knows what you can buy/lease/steal at her dealership? I like the colors, too. They're fun and inviting. Also split complimentary, which is a nice bonus. There's a lot of margin around things, but not so much that the design fragments. It just feels very open and airy. The simple type selection works well, too. This is a cheesy website and Impact is a cheesy font so it pairs well together. Your navigation is easy to see and use. I like the page marker too. That's a nice little touch.
I'd recommend pulling the dark blue from the gradient in her logo. It's a little clashy with the rest of the colorscheme. Swap it with your salmon color or the medium teal behind the missile launcher image. That'd go better with the rest of the site.
Great work!

Hello
I like both designs. Actually I am having a hard time choosing which one is better. The colors you used in both are appealing, the content is easily read with in both layouts.
Great job

Trixia,
Ha! Well your redesigns don't induce a headache and that's a huge improvement from the original.
Both designs do a good job at taking the content from the original site and organizing it in a much more straightforward way.
I prefer the colors you used in your 2nd version. I think that green is really easy on the eyes and works well with the blue.
However, I prefer the overall layout of your 1st version. I think it's more visually interesting than the 2nd version.
Interested to see what you do moving forward!

I like your first design but one of the mobile versions with the rocket in the background is cut off and doesn't look right to me.

I really like your designs because they feel really energetic. I like the mobile design but the maybe the text could use more structure.
