Project 2 Final

Post by NalaniN »

So... I think... we were supposed to post a link to our website here for Final Critique.

http://www.grc175.com/student/fall-2019/nalani-nickles/

I realized it after the deadline, although the website was up before the deadline. Anyway, here it is. I struggled with various aspects of this. My fonts couldn't be converted so I had to search for similar ones with mediocre success. Also, the difference in screen size between school and home created unexpected challenges. Overall though, I think I was able to recreate the original design idea with somewhat accuracy.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Haha, now that I'm looking at the final on the big screens at school I can see my footer needs to be pinned to the bottom regardless of screen size.

Hey Nalani,

I think you did an awesome job turning your original design into the full web version! Aside from the font changes it looks almost identical! I agree with you though that the footer should be moved down some, mostly so that the "GRC 175, Web Design and Publishing I, Fall 2019" doesn't get lost in the sun.
Nice job!

Hi Nalani,
I love the picture you used for the background! It looks great! The sun directs the eye to the information, very cool. Great job!

Lookin' real good, Nalani.

You've done a fantastic job translating your Project One into a real website here. I find your CSS backlit shadow/glows to be a particular highlight. That's a slick little bit of programming there and makes for a great effect. You also did a great job feeding in your custom fonts via CSS. This is a simple design that's made possible entirely via some really legit CSS work. Well, that and one hell of a background image. That image does all the color and detail work here and it was up to you to work with it. You've done a crackerjack job.

On some displays, your footer appears above your dark bottom horizon and disappears a bit in your sky. I think you should have included a precautionary backlit shadow/glow on it just in case.

Great work!

Hey Nalani, beautiful website you got here. I really like how you made the background image affect your text. Where the sun is positioned and the position of the drop shadow of the text makes sense together and I think that is pretty neat. Position that bottom text further down on top of that dark area of the background image.

Hi Nalani,
I like how you used drop shadow to bring out your text from the background!
