project 4 prelimmmm

Post by Kelsey_Reynolds »

Here my designs for project 4. I tried to stay true to the overall look of the tmcc website, but gave the graphic arts and media tech site some more visual interest.

Hi Kelsey,
I think I like your second design more, the white background makes it easier to navigate and the side navigation looks good. The only thing I would do is make the font smaller then move the navigation down so that the dark green top border goes all the way across. Good job!

Hi Kelsey,
These designs are great! I prefer your first design. The white background makes the text easier to read. I love the side buttons you chose for this design and the fonts. I also really like how you put the circle with the logo in the design. Even though this website looks great, I think it needs pictures, it seems a little plain. I would also left-align the text because I think the center-aligned looks a little crowded. Great job!

Hi Kelsey,

Both of these look very professional. I think I enjoy your first concept more though, as I love that little green swoop in the bottom right hand corner. It adds some nice visual interest while still keeping the overall design very simple

Heh. Prelim-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m-m.

You certainly succeeded in adding some zazz to it, Kelsey. Especially that first design. It's got a lot of strong elements that make it stand out to me.

What I see immediately is great use of margin. Everything has room to breathe. It's a super clean layout that has everything placed really well in it. I especially like the top bar and navigation. Everything is easy to see and use. Your fonts are well chosen. They project a clean, techy feeling. Very forward looking. It even works well colorwise. The green, black and white play well together. I also like the slight shading on rollover. Your bottom right sweep shape adds a nice touch of visual interest as well. That's a great spot to stick the logo and it helps add a little bit of curved softness to your clean, grid-like design.

I'd left align your homepage bodycopy. Center alignment never looks good with bodycopy. It's really best used with headlines and pullquotes. Compare it to your inner page text, which reads better. You know, I wonder if you darkened your background image just a bit more, if you could reverse your type out white against it and remove your text boxes. That might be a good look.

Good effort!

Hi Kelsey,
Both of your designs look really nice. They are clean and easy to read and navigate. I like the first one the best. I like the way that the green curves up along the side behind the TMCC logo. The text is somehow a tad bit hard to read. It might be because of the font choice. The letters are long and kind of cram together. Maybe if you spaced them out differently it could help a bit. I think that the colors chosen are good. Obviously they are the TMCC colors. I also did the same for mine. Nice job.

Hi Kelsey,
These are both great designs and I like your use of different shapes for each design that contain the TMCC logo. I like the first one better, the green stands out great against the black background and that there is an image. I do think that you could lighten the filter on the background image and then darken the white box behind the text, other than that this looks great.

Hi Kelsey!

I really like the layouts of your designs! I think the colors all work well together with how you use them, the grey being text boxes and the green being used as an accent. I think the only thing I could suggest is playing around with the size of your type. I think maybe the body copy could be bigger and the headers could be a bit smaller, but besides that small thing these are beautiful designs! Really great job!

Hi Kelsey,

Nice job on these layouts! Personally, I'm leaning towards your first set. I especially appreciate the little swoop where the TMCC logo is and the hint of dark green and light green with the white logo, that looks really clean. I also really like your navigation and titles they fit really well with the colors, and the green stands out with your darker background image. I also like the fonts you picked. My only suggestion is to left align your text for the homepage sign center aligned text is the hardest to read. Other than that, great work!

Hello Kelsey,

The first concept looks great. The color an contrast between the colors look very well done. I think maybe the text would look better if it was white itself instead of a transparent backdrop.
