Project 04 Prelim

Hello all,
Here are my two concepts. For the first concept, I played around with making smooth corners and would like to include a collage style within the inner pages, kinda seen with the Mac and adobe icons on the homepage. The second concept is a bit more clean and professional, which is fitting due to the top notch professors seen on my instructor page . I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback!

I love your designs. I really like both of your ideas. I think I like your first one more because I like the curviness to it. I love the large circles used to highlight the photos of the instructors and the way you put organized them. I think this is a really strong concept that you came up with. The colors all match the TMCC theme as well. I think the font choices are great also.

I really like your second design, the straight lines and blocks look very modern. I can’t really think of anything you should change, maybe just adding in some of the TMCC orange for a pop of color? Great job!

Hello Allison,
As always, these look amazing! I think you could go with either choice, but I like the motion you have in your first design. With that being said, I really like your second layout instructor's page, maybe you could do something similar with your first layout's instructor page. I don't see anything else I would change. I love the instructors you chose . Great job!

Ooof! You've got too really good one's here, Allison. I think your first one wins by a hair due to it's softer edges and movement in the composition. My eye is sort of gently surfing through the whole thing. I see you too had fun with the instructor bios. Nice!

I really do like the curved edges. As I mentioned previously they soften the whole thing up and give it a nice flow. It's very gentle on the eye. I also like the hard header and footer at the top and bottom. They're nicely framing your composition. They look almost like the rolls on a scroll. Good use of stock photography as well. I especially appreciate that you chose photos of students doing design stuff. It's something others have not quite gotten. Good use of photography as page identifiers. I like the way they're repeated in your secondary nav as blurry backgrounds. Really ties those pages and their header photos together. Good use of contrast across the whole composition as well. Everything really pops out. Both sets of navigation are easy to see and use. Because you designed it a bit mobile first your layout moves seamlessly from mobile to computer and back without losing anything.

I'm not sure you need to run the dark gray bar along the bottom of your header image. I think a hard edge on the image and a drop shadow would be enough. It's working okay for your secondary nav at the bottom. I'd add a bit more leading to your bodycopy as well. I'm also not sold on the little green pills as rollovers in your main nav.

Hi Allison,
I love your first design with all the more abstract shapes and flow to the layout. I like that you have a similar footer and header, making it easy to see where to the site begins and ends. Also, I love your instructors, page with the bubbles of info and the drop-shadows as well as using the abstract shape as pop of color in the background.

I really love both of your designs! The one with the curved header is incredible. I love how detailed you made your pages, but how they still look very open and clean even with all the information. Really incredible job!

Both of these designs are solid, but I do like the organic shapes in your first layout. The shapes that you created within that layout gives it depth and a sense of creativity. Love your choices of staff and the design is really nice too. Great job.

Amazing work, you did a great job with these concepts. Its is really hard to choose which one works bestbut I do wave you have on the first concept so maybe that one. Were the images for the mac and Adobe apps dull in color originally? I would probably like them better of the color has a bit more saturation.

I really love the curves you play around with in your work. Every time I see them in your work, it’s so distinct and unique but you utilize them so well to fit your content and designs and your first set of designs is a prime example of that. I just love how it flows, it feels professional but it’s fun, and I love your instructor bios so freaking much. Nice work as always, I’m sure your final site will be fantastic.
