𝓅𝓇𝑒𝓁𝒾𝓂𝒾𝓃𝒶𝓇𝓎

Post by Lucky_Penny »

I kept it simple for my designs, very simple, I'm not sure what I want for my website so I just laid down the basics. I was very inspired by the 1980's color palette-wise, going in two completely different directions, using bright gradients for the first to resemble almost a lava lamp and then a more muted palette for the second which reminds me of one of those vintage vans. I know these designs aren't anything special but I'm hoping I can add more interactivity.

There were many designs I found useful for my inspiration, this site was the most helpful- https://www.awwwards.com/websites/?tag= ... lor=orange
while they are portfolio pages I figured it was closer to the layout I wanted since we'll be showing off our projects on the site. These sites are very interactive and definitely seem complicated.

You say your designs are simple, but there is nothing wrong with simple. If you go most profile or landing pages on the internet, they are pretty simple. It is better to convey information quickly and easily than to try to force everything in and confuse the viewer. I like how the shapes kind of frame, or can frame the text and other objects in the "lava" concept. The color overlay of the circle on the rainbow one over the rainbow, mutes together just a bit. If you went with that second concept I would just maybe experiment with a few different color pallets .

This is definitely a social media logo design. I like it, I’d play with the image size and arrange it to make more of a social web page.

Hi Olivia! I really like your designs, they are pleasing to the eye and easy to understand. I personally prefer the second design, I like the colors you used and the way that you used them, but I might change the vibrancy of the colors so that the text pops out more and doesn't get lost in the deep colors. Also it seems that the stripes aren't all the same size, just a nitpick that I have. Otherwise I really like your designs!

I love the vibrant colors on the second design, the linear geometric design really establishes a theme throughout the background. I don't get that same feeling from the first design. on the second there seems to be an excess of negative space around the navigation and the text, have you thought of enlarging the functional areas of the site to take up a more balanced layout that isn't as small and central? I cant help but think that the small size is going to make the user have to zoom in so the text, buttons and images are readable.Love the design and curious to see how it goes.

Well look at you sneakin' in under the wire! I see you! But seriously, you've got a couple of good one's here, Olivia. I like your first "Pepto Bismol lava lamp" design over the "vintage Polariod" design.

I think it's actually the layout I prefer in the "Pepto Bismol lava lamp" design. I think it uses space better than the "vintage Polariod" design. You use proximity really well to create groups among your objects. I also like the way you balance your text and image with each other. A good example of symmetry in both the computer and mobile layouts. Your shadows and gradients give the whole thing a depth that belies it's simple layout. The shapes have a floating blob quality that adds a hint of motion. Putting your photo in a circle makes it look like another blob in the lava lamp. I even like the colors. The purple and pink work well together and gradiate into each other nicely. Your type works pretty well too. I especially like the interaction between your script title and your sans-serif bodycopy and navigation. Your navigation is easy to see and use as well. The whole thing makes for a nice little package.

I'd bring your class info text a little bit up on the bottom on both your computer and mobile layouts. It's a little tight down there. Maybe go a little lighter on your bodycopy as well.

Good work!

Hi Olivia
I loveee your second concept it is so good. The colors are amazing and i think it looks so cute. The layout looks super clean too and professional. If i were to do anything different i would just make the body copy a little easier to read against the colors maybe with a light color or a blur behind it. Awesome job!

Hello Olivia,
These are my favorite designs out of all. Very fun and smooth to look at. Your color choice works very well on design one and the font choice matches the style very well. Its hard to pick a favorite when design two also looks so good. My main critique on design two is the font choice for the selection section, it doesn't quite match the header font or body. If I had to choice a design I would go with design one.

Hi Olivia! I like both of your designs and think both could be great options! If you went with the pink and purple one you might need to add an element for more visual interest (not sure what you'd add). If you went with the second design you might want to put a faded white box behind your body copy to help with legibility. I think either way your website will be awesome!

Hi Olivia,

Excellent job on both of your layouts! Right off the bat , your colors are so eye catching for both of these. Color wise, I don't think either option is less appealing than the other - they both look beautiful.

In terms of layout and placement, I tend to gravitate towards the first one (but only by a tiny margin as both are very well thought out. I feel your first set just lays out the homepage content more fittingly to the platform (ie having your picture and about me section in the middle for the mobile and off centered for the desktop version). I just think the way you did that makes better use of the space per the screen size as well as how its navigated whereas the second set of layouts does the reverse (not that the second layout is bad by any means as you can tell you thought through how to place content differently from each set and it was great experiment). Just subjectively speaking, I am more drawn to how you organized everything in the first set but I don't think either set is a bad place to start and build off of. Great work!
