While both designs definitely carry a theme throughout them, I believe the second design holds the most sway over me, the fonts are definitely more readable and the balance is great. I also like the way you plan to scale the page and how it is consistent and holds the design. The first design definitely has too much negative space and the font on the top makes me think it was designed with you as opposed to the user in mind.

Your Trapper Keeper first design is nice and clean, but I'm all about that high contrast photo background second design, Lily.

Don't think I missed the visual pun of using a picture of a lily on your website, either. It's a great pic, and not just for pun reasons. It provides a great visual texture for your composition. You have a super clean vertical bar layout and the photo provides great visual interest and draws the eye. What really keeps it from getting stale though is the way you break things out of their boxes throughout the layout. Especially the way your title and bodycopy straddle the warm dark gray left bar and the image area. That adds visual texture. So does your logo doing a little peekaboo over the edge up top. Your type is well chosen and helps reinforce the look and feel established by your photo. It's also pleasant to read, too. Your navigation is easy to see and use.

I'd make the left edges of your "Welcome", your bodycopy, and your class info all match to add a little alignment action to the layout.

Hi Lily,
Like your first design very psychedelic. I think my main critique on that design is there is a little bit to much open space. I like the mobile version works great and has the best space use. The second design works but text over image is hard to read but I do like the colors and font choice.

Very cool sets of layouts that are very different from one another - the first one has a very pleasing to the eye, almost hipster aesthetic while the second set has a very elegant, sophisticated look. Honestly I think you could go with either layout depending on what aesthetic you're drawn to more or what you think shows your personality more. Both layouts are really excellently spaced and I love what you did with your name logo font in correlation with the said layout aesthetic. Also, the way you played with the placement of your name logo and the navigation on each of these are all very well thought out. I honestly don't know why layout I would go with BUT the only critique I have is with the background image of the second set - I feel you should try to manipulate that image some more so that it covers all the way from side to side on both the desktop and mobile version but besides that, they're both great starts!

Definitely looking forward to see which one you decide to go with (tough choice!) and how you build upon it. You definitely have a good eye for layout. Great work!

Hi Lily! I like how funky and fun your first layout is, it has a perfect balance of simplicity and expressiveness! It could be cool to take your imagery from your second design and incorporate it into the first design somehow. Nice start!

How's it going, Lily?

I love the simple elegance of the second design. I like how it uses a nice analogous color scheme. I also like that you stuck with white text that contrasts nicely and doesn't take away from the colors in the background image. The only thing I would suggest is to play with alignment. Maybe if the green sidebar was only a bit wider than your name, for example, and that line also served as the left margin for the about me text. But that's just me thinking alignment is cool, it actually looks pretty ok all centered too. Actually though, what if you just made the sidebar just a little bit of a darker green than the image? Just an idea.

I really like both designs! They're extremely hard to choose from and I'm not sure which one I like more! I like the aesthetic for both and I think they're clean and organized. I like how playful they are with the images. If I really had to pick one I would choose the second one. I just love the color and I like flowers. It's so pretty! I also like how it matches the font and your name. It's just really natural and I think that's cool!
