PROJECT01_FINAL

Post by TSUL »

Hello again everyone! :!: :!: :!: :geek: :ugeek:
Here are my final designs for my webpage.
For my design, I decided to go with a portfolio website that I can continue to use in the future for my resume. I did a mockup of this entire workspace area showing my logo in multiple areas throughout as well as my name on the desk and on the webpage of the desktop above the self portrait of myself. I used a more analogous color scheme of blue/cool greys and violet and added basic and easy to read layout on top of it. I added a portfolio subpage design with a hopefully funcionable neon light design on a brick wall backdrop. I'm hoping to have all pages fully functioning and maybe if i'm feeling extra motivated, have a store option. I simplified my layouts a lot from the previous designs and made them look more clean and easy to navigate. For the desktop design, I changed the composition up a bit to highlight the main vocal point of my website and make a cleaner look on the bigger screen. For the mobile design, I went more for functionality providing multiple navigation areas and a portfolio shortcut so you can skip right ahead to whatever section of design you please.

Hi Tyler, these look amazing! The layout is beautiful and the background image is visually interesting without being too overwhelming, the use of space is really well done! The body text in the web design is a bit small but other than that fantastic work!

Holy skeuomorphism, Batman!

You went with the room design. Excellent. Just a sea of unending detail.

I like the "glass window" effect you have with your content area. It puts a slight warming effect on your background photo which serves to differentiate it nicely. Every piece you have in your photo has some meaning. I've been having fun popping both of the layouts open and just looking at all the details. You clearly put a lot of work (and a lot of fun) into this thing. The little splash of green form the plant is especially nice. The whole design reminds me of a more complex Carrd website actually. Great use of drop shadows and gradients throughout to give the thing depth. Typographically it also works as well. The type is super clean to go with the clean, modern, geometry of the photo. The logo type is eye catching as well. Your navigation is easy to see and use.

I only have a couple of issues, both super nitpicky. One, I think your rollover color should have been purple, rather than red to match your purple accent color used on the rest of the design. Two, I think it would have looked a little better if the "glass window" effect had been closed off at the bottom rather than faded out.

Excellent work!

Tyler my man!

Stellar final layout work here - I hope you don't mind but I will definitely be pulling some inspiration from you. Everything from your use of space, font selection to your brilliant use of using a background image as your template for your layout is spectacular! That is super hard to do in finding a background that not only can work as such but that also ties your entire layout aesthetic together. Even just the minor details with the checklist (loved the unchecked procrastination item on it as I relate to that exactly :D ) to the picture I presume of you on the computer and the variations of your TS logo on the wall (very much screams design student although I would say your layout skills are beyond a typical student's 8-) ). All in all there is not much I could critique on your desktop version - it's amazing.

I think your mobile version carries over your desktop version well, however, one minor critique is to perhaps make your navigation bigger on the left. Im trying to picture navigating your site on an actual phone and the buttons seem way too small, especially if it were to be viewed on a phone. My suggestion would be do a hamburger icon for a drop down menu and make that menu expand over your homepage where your buttons would then be listed and easier to navigate/use. However, thats more of a functionality critique rather than a design critique and just something to keep in mind when crossing over to mobile.

Again, overall I think your designs are phenomenal and super inspiring. Keep up the great work and cant wait to see you actually build this out. Major golf claps over here :)

Hi Tyler
Your mobile and desk version match together and looks very well.
It has a lot going on, but in a neat way, if that makes any sense.
Your design is adorable, and all fits together with the colors and what is on it nic job.

Hey Tyler,

I don't think I can say anything else that hasn't already been said by others; your design is incredible. This looks like the site of a professional designer. Every little detail works together to tell a visual story, from the tabs in the browser to the names on the books, and the repeated use of your initials logo. This is a site that was created by someone who enjoys the process of creation and isn't afraid to think outside of the box, something that I find myself struggling with from time to time. I think it would have been cool if the home button had the same purple used elsewhere, but sadly that is the only "criticism" I can think of to offer. Instead, I should take pointers from you, lol.

Hey Tyler,

I think this looks really good! It's clean! It's unique! It's fun! I really like that you're using the image so well your organization of everything. I like how you made the text pop out. I also really like the lighting in the picture, the light to the dark gradient in the background. I think it might be the picture but I think it's still really cool.

This is such a good-looking and thorough submission. I'm glad you didn't really change it much. I did find the mobile version thinks it's the bigger layout that can carry more elements than the pc version. Both are quite amazingly artistic and one wants to pore over it for more details each time. :- )
