So, by popular demand, the sand dune design was the one that I went with.

I believe Meghna was the one that suggested adding some moving components for my prelim, so that really inspired me. I went with this weird UFO/Desert theme, which I think looks quite good, and you get two unique experiences depending on what device you visit from. My image from prelim01 was just taken off the internet, so I recreated each element in photoshop and then transferred each layer into AE to add the motion graphics. I'm still going with the CMYK color for my logo and as motifs for my three categories. Overall, I think I did a pretty good job!
The way I personally look at professionally made websites is judged as "nice" vs. "less nice" if there's lots of movement. I love seeing short videos, gifs, slideshows, etc. as I feel a little more love was put into the design process and shows the business is dedicated to the client by providing a pleasant user experience. Kickass with the UFO and then also I think a shooting star. So awesome. Yeah, this has a cool vibe, it reminds of like either a stylized cover of some 60sci fi novel or actually like an old concert poster from the 60s or 70s. Real tough to pick on anything that I don't like. I don't even know if this is a thing, but maybe I wish the bright star on the mobile version was not behind the blue line? I really don't know, pulling at strings, I think this is awesome.

Hello! Your design is so cool!! The colors match really well and of course the UFO is a really cool touch. Your logo, so creative and retro. I also think that the two fonts mesh really well, and I love the background. Of course, I am not helpful in that I have nothing to really say, these are amazing designs and I think that you killed it.

Hi Spencer, these are great, well designed and the layout is nice to look at, overall they look awesome. I have a few ideas for you, I like how you went with just the CMYK, makes the whole design come together, for the web layout I think there's a lot of empty space, but that might be what you're going for since you said something about videos and gifs, I still might make the text just a bit bigger, otherwise these are great!

Ah, the dunes layout. And you included the flying saucer! Awesome.
The big strength of this one is depth. You did an excellent job of making a deep landscape using the sweeping dune shapes and a simple purple to orange gradient. Running it in different directions gives a sense of different shapes as wall as light and dark. It really looks like sunset in the Sahara. Great little details throughout, including the starscape in the very back. I also like your use of dark outer glows on all the content to pop it out against that detailed background. Your 3D logo continues to rock. Though on this version you bring in come of it's zany CMYK energy into your composition. Really ties the whole thing together. I especially like how the logo underlines continue across the screen on your mobile layout. The animated flying saucer is hilarious as well. I like that you used the different aspect ratios of your mobile and computer versions to make different animations. A great touch.
On your computer design, I probably would have scooted your bodycopy up a bit to add a little more clearance for your footer and pushed it over right a bit to make sure it's right edge matched the right edge of your navigation and footer. I also think it would have tightened the whole computer design up a touch if your button underlines had moved up a touch to match the baseline on your email.
Nicely done!

I like sand that looks like tidal waves. It’s real gleamy and catchy to they eye, makes me wonder.

Holy Alien Starships Spencer!
This is awesome. I don't know how you pulled off that animation with the saucer but it is so cool. I can only imagine the amount of time that took to make that work as I also love how you can see it in the distance fly back down like a comet or a shooting star and then come back around into focus again. Nice touch!
Additionally, I love your logo design to your name with the CMYK style added to it - very graphic designer vibes with the implied message you know your stuff (and duh you have a freaking spaceship flying in the background )! Overall for the desktop, I love the simplicity of it along with the complexity of the animation. It's very pleasing to look at and inspiring. Your cont selection is also well done and very easy to read as well as your navigation being easy to understand.
Same goes for the mobile - you brilliantly did a different animation to the saucer which I dig a ton with how it zooms past and then comes back into view, hovers for a moment then elevates straight up and out of sight. Really smart use of that screen real estate to make that animation cohesive with the desktop yet unique enough to differentiate the mobile as the desktop animation wouldn't have worked as well on the mobile. So much fun! (thought again I cant imagine how many hours these both took). My only teeny tiny critique or suggestion is perhaps maybe doing a hamburger menu for the mobile and adding a drop down menu for your projects just to free up the view of that amazing backdrop and the saucer? However that is a subjective suggestion as aesthetically and functionality, it still works as it is.
Really looking forward to seeing this built out. Awesome job!

Hey Spencer,
Those are some really nice gradients on the dunes there. Really makes the design feel like it has form. The pinks make it feel like its sunset and it evokes some pleasant feelings. The ufo is the real focus though. Its really clever that you added a moving component to your design. That seems like something that would be really hard to pull off and you did it. I also think just going with the CMY makes it all tie together more neatly. Only thing is I think the body copy on both versions could use a bit more breathing room between it and the edge of the page, and play a bit more with the alignment in the mobile version.

Re: Proj01 Final!
I usually open up the views in a separate window while typing to view them in full. But I did NOT expect to see a spaceship fly into the screen that caught me off guard, and I love it.
I was going to comment about all the blank space in the center of your web version, but with that little spaceship flying around, it makes sense, and I don't mind it anymore adds to the charm.
I look forward to your website being finished and viewable excellent job.

Hey Spencer,
I love the UFO scares! I think that's actually really fun and playful. I would definitely refresh my page a few times just to watch that over and over again. I love how the colors match your logo it makes it look more cohesive! I think these updates are really cool! I know you already put in a lot of work but if those UFOs had lights that are the same colors as your logo and stuff it would look mad cool. But overall you did great!
