Hey James,
Ah dang I wished you would have gone with the second concept because I just loved that black-and-white image that you had used in the background so much! But that doesn't mean these final designs do not look cool either. What enthralls me the most is the image in your headline, "curiosity shop designs", and I enjoy how it pops out against the dark background. My only suggestions to about these final designs to fix later on are about the mobile version solely, whereas the headline on top feels way too close to the top edge of the screen, and the same goes for the small course information down below (overall, these two appear very pushed away from the center that they no longer feel connected to it anymore, so I'd say just to bring them back a little bit to the center). Besides this, these are really great designs and I can't wait to see if you have any more artwork incorporated throughout the site once it's live! Good job!

Heh. You're clearly having too much fun here, James.

My favorite bit is that your headline and titles are semi-transparent. That ties your type together with your background image. However when you need it to be readable like with your navigation and bodycopy, you make it pure white which really pushes the type to the foreground. Your navigation is easy to see and use as well. I like the way you've dimmed your background image a bit to make the type more visible. Your image is still light enough that we can make it out. It's very 90's gross out cartoon. I get major Ren & Stimpy vibes from it. A great example of your art and aesthetic. I think it says a lot about who you are as an artist too. The center of it sits behind your content as well, which helps center the eye and feed it in toward your content. Great use of margin and proximity throughout this composition. Your item groups are well separated, but don't fragment. That partially your margin distance and partially your background image tying everything togather.

Your bodycopy is a little bold to my eye. A bit shouty. I think it would have been okay a bit less bold.

Good work!

Hi James

I don't know what it is about this design but I love it! The background is amazing IMO. Though it's hard to read through the all-caps body copy, a more readable font might work better. As for the layout, it's clean and simple which I like makes it easy to navigate

Hey James,
Cool design you have here it is quite wacky and unique, your image choice is super cool. The contrast was a worry I thought would come up in your design but in the final it looks fine. My favorite part is your header. I like your mobile designs outta the two. Great job with your design.

Hi James!
I really like how unique your design is, I think it really shows your strength as an illustrator and what makes you different from other designers. I think the only way this could be better is a change in your body copy font, as it is not the best for readability right now. Nice work!

Hi James
I like the concept with went with it looks good! I think the background may be a little distracting because its a little hard to read but i think it works well just because thats the style you are going for. nice job

Hey James,

I think this layout is very straightforward and easy to navigate! there is good contrast between background and type, and the layout is good on both the web and desktop version!
