Hello everyone,
My name is Juan Lara Ruelas, and here are my roughs for project one. For the first set of layouts, my approach was minimalist with a focus on color scheme and a "less is more" mentality. As for my second set of layouts, I went with a darker aesthetic with some highlights throughout. Admittedly, this set of layouts is quite minimalist as well.

Hey Juan,
I think your first design is awesome! Having that darker shade of pink with the stars and your portrait really stand out! I also think the pose in your photo is very creative and helps display who you are as a creative and a designer! Something that I think would help elevate your layouts would be playing more with font styles, I think that it would better match the concept of your layouts! Can't wait to see what you make this semester, good luck!

Hi Juan,
I really like your first design, it's fun and has a lot of personality! I really like your use of pink as your name while the rest it simple colors like cream and black to really highlight your portrait and name. I think that you could use your space more effectively by making your portrait bigger, and name smaller to maybe add more emphasis on the information being displayed. The second one is good too, I like the stars around your portrait but the background seems to be overpowering the rest of the page with a little tweaking of the elements, I think that it could be a good solution too!

Hi Jaun,
Nice to meet you! Hey, I REALLY like your ideas here, especially the 1st one. I'm always a fan of "less is more" no matter what anyone says. You did an excellent job getting all the requirements in for both versions. I can see everything clearly and I don't have to search for anything which helps me focus more on your design than looking for something that might be missing or wondering "what's this button for?" If you go with the 1st design (because secretly I really want you to) I would try to play with the mobile version a little more. I think you could really mimic the same esthetic that you have with you photo interacting with your name and the stars from the web version. Maybe on the mobile version, make your name bigger at the top, then add more stars around your photo? I don't know, just throwing some things out there. Have fun with it! Good job.

Hi Juan!
I really like both of your designs! My favorite is the top one because it shows your style and I really like the color scheme! It is also a super fun composition! My only advice would be to make your contact info bigger and more of a focal point, so it's easily accessible. Good Job!

Re: Project 01 Preliminary critique
You know, usually I'm all about the one with the best contrast, but in this case I'm going to have to go with your first design, Juan. I think it's the sense of fun about it.
It all starts with the photo pose in your name/page title. It's fun and offbeat and immediately tells the viewer a little bit about yourself. You basically created a poster of you as your website. Interesting idea. Good use of margin throughout your composition. Everything has room to breathe. Alignment too. I can see a lot of nonexistent lines made by edges here. Nice color selection as well. It's basically slightly off (either lighter or darker) watermelon colors. A fun scheme that works well together. A sans-serif type was a good choice to make here too. It works well with the poster like composition you've got going. Your top bar does a great job framing your content, plus it makes you navigation easy to see and use.
Make your bodycopy just a little bit lighter to help with hierarchy. No need to use a different font, just a lighter version of the one you do have.
Nicely done!

Hello Juan!
I love both of your layouts!! I like the cutout version of the image, and the colors work really well at establishing a fun theme for the site. The colors remind me a lot of GOLF, the fashion brand. the second one is great too, and the layout reminds me a lot of those older websites I would see from the late '90s and early '00s. I think I am leaning more toward the first one, and if you wanted to, I think choosing a lighter typestyle for the body copy would go a long way. I'm super excited to see the final, I can't wait to check it out!

Hello Juan,
I personally like the first of your roughs more. It is clean and simple but works very nicely. I like the colors used and I also like your use of shapes. My suggestion would be to use more of the empty space on the mobile version or just make the image and text bigger. Good work.

Hi Juan,
I'm loving the first layout just because of the colors you used. They
work perfectly to give emphasis on the tabs and for your name.
For the mobile, if you could make the image a bit bigger and have the same
space you used for the website, just to give it the same dimension of space for
consistency. Overall, great job! I'm loving the image you used, it really
shows your personality.
