Project 1 Final

Post by Mars_Sink »

Hello!

Here is my project 1, I know my preliminary was rough so I did listen to the critiques. I still hope you like this, I mostly kept to the planet design and made sure to have illustrative and fun elements while still keeping it simple. I hope you like it!

I can't decide if your logo is the planet Mars or a pepperoni, therefore I am declaring it a Mars-peroni. Equally delicious and mysterious. I can see little rovers roaming it's surface looking for flakes of primordial cheese and grease.

The whole aesthetic of this website is round, from your logo on down. All the edges are rounded. It feels a little like a letter block or a kids toy. I like the aesthetic myself. Very inviting. I keep wanting to push the little Mars-peroni at the intersection of your header and your nav. Good selection on your colors, too. The pink, teal, green, and tan work well together, which comes as something of a surprise to me. It feels like you color sampled from your photo to get a couple of those colors. I like your rounded fonts too. They really back up the round aesthetic and, with one exception, are pretty easy to read. Good margins on the whole shebang too. Everything mostly has enough room to breathe and expand. Your navigation is easy to see and use.

The only thing that violates your round theme here is your bodycopy container. When you build this as a real website for Project Two, round the edges of that rectangle so it goes better with the theme you have going on here. I also thing your nav would have looked better if the tan box was just a little less rounded or if the green box contaning it was a little more round. Also, I'm losing the giant Mars-peroni behind your header. I think it would have looked a little better to the lower left instead. The lighter bodycopy on your mobile version is pretty hard to read.

Good work!

Wow Mars, this is so great! I'm definitely getting a sense of your style now! I love the color mode you went with, and I especially love the texture on aqua see-through box on your mobile version....I'm really hoping it's on your web version too, but I can't really tell from these images. The only suggestion I have is to maybe add your logo to your web version too, like you did in your mobile version at the bottom. Too, the mauve boarder around your name looks like it might have cut off a little on the top right? Was this intentional? If not, maybe make it a little bigger to match the rest of the boarder/stroke? So fun to see your work Mars!!

Hi Mars!
I love how your design turned out, the colors and the layout have a really cool retro vibe!
My only advice would be to move the navigation bar to the top of the mobile design.
Good Job!

Hey Mars!
I LOVE the changes you have made, they add so much. The big MARS SINK is awesome, and I love the space theme you have going on. The color palette works really well, it reminds me of some sci-fi desert planet. My only advice would be to size up the image of you, and the text below that to fill in that space. Everything else uses space well, but it feels very empty below your image. Great work regardless, I can't wait to see where you take this in project 2. 8-)

Hi Mars,
I really love the theme of your website, it kind of gives me a layout of some space computer! Cool spacey, future look you have here! Something I would maybe play with is the weight of you font for your body copy, I do love the look of it but I think adding a lighter weight could help with legibility especially with long body of texts! Hope that helps! Great work! :D

Hi Mars, these are beautiful designs! I love. the colors you've chosen and all the rounded details. I would maybe try a thinner font for your about me body, the on you have now is beautiful but slightly hard to read. Overall, these are stunning!

Hey Mars!
You made a lot of changes! I love the groovy style of your design and I think the colors and typestyle are working really well. You did a good job finding fonts that have this style. I love the font you chose for "home"! I just like how it looks and love the colors you chose. The unique shape you created for the headline and links is looking really cool too! My suggestions are to change the color of the tmcc logo to one of your color schemes and change the layout of your mobile version. Moving the body copy to the bottom might work? Other than that, I think both of the designs are nice and stylish. Nice work!

Hey Mars,
I love the look of your final designs, it's so nice to look at and really cool and colorful. It kind of has a sort of vintage effect on it, with the round fonts you used and the off-white colors you used for the body type if that makes sense? It gives it a very unique appearance, you did a really good job on these. My only critique of it is the shape of Mars (the planet) in the background, it doesn't really feel like it needs to be there or you could've gone about that a bit differently kind of like how you did it in your mobile design. Awesome work!

Hello Mars,
Nice work. This is giving me retro vibes. All of the colors work very nicely. A suggestion I have is to change the font of the about me paragraph to help with legibility. Another suggestion is to use more of the blank space on the mobile rough.
