Hello everyone!
I'm Yasmin and I'd just like to mention before starting this that, for some reason, my AI wasn't exporting the jpeg at the borders of the artboard so I did end up marking that for you guys so you can see the actual scale of the websites.
My design solves this project because it has all the necessary components and I reorganized everything to be read easier and more concise. I added a drop-down menu to free up space and added a disclaimer because I didn't want anyone to mistake the website for anything but a portfolio.
The wix website was helpful because it was a starter course on the basic foundations of a website which I believe is always important to read up on no matter what level of design you're at. And the second website was informational because it goes more advanced and talks about white space, SEO, and other advanced topics that can help bring your design to the next level.

Oh that background piece of art is slick, Yasmin. Nicely selected!
I love the way the background art twists and turns. It's so visually interesting as a background. And it provides such vivid color you have no need of it in your composition itself. Great choice in fonts too. Your nouveau primary font meshes nicely with that background image. The curls and swirls intermix nicely. Good margins all around. Everything is a comfortable distance from everything else whithout getting fragmented. Your navigation is easy to see and use.
I think your semi-transparent background blocks would have looked better with rounded corners. Also, I'm not sure your name needed one. I think the white drop shadow behind the type would have been sufficient to kick it off of the background.
Good job!

This is so cool Yasmin! I love the marble paint art as your background. It definitely draws you in and begs you to dive deeper into your website. My only suggestion would be to maybe move the "disclaimer" to the bottom of the page on your web version. It seems to compete a little bit with your other links, so maybe it should be smaller and further away from the important stuff?? It looks really great though. I'm especially digging the 60's font choice!

Hi Yasmin!
I really like how your design turned out, the background picture gives a cool effect!
My only advice would be to add some hierarchy to the text by either making your name bigger and moving it to the top, or making the other headers a bit smaller and moving them down.
Good Job!

Hey Yasmin!
Nice work! I like the background pattern a lot, and I like the layout used in your web layout. For my critique, I think you could increase the transparency of the background blocks just a bit more, and make them consistent across both web and mobile layouts. I'm excited to see where you take this in project 2! Nice work

Hi Yasmin,
The background photo is definitely a cool element to your website! I think that if the boxes behind your text could be more "wavy" maybe play with the pen tool and make crazy cool shapes or like the professor suggested, rounding the corners would be a great idea! Hope that helps! Nice work!!

Nice work Yasmin! I love the image you chose, it brings a color palate that is so pretty. I would maybe try increasing the opacity of the shapes behind your text so that the text shows up more, especially your smaller fonts. But overall these are lovely!

Hi Yassy,
I love the background! I think the texture made your design interesting and unique. Your design gives me European paintings vibes with the image the image in the background and the type style you chose. I like how your name and other subheads stands out with the thick font style. My suggestions are to make the hamburger button a little more thinner and maybe increase the transparency for the white boxes. Great job!

Hi Yasmin,
I love the swirly background effect! The only thing I would change is to change the Menu to white/ another color than black to give it more emphasis and give an indicator to click.

Hello Yasmin,
The background image you have is really interesting with its shapes and colors. I sort of wish some of those colors or shapes were seen again in your design somewhere but I think that the text resembling those shapes work pretty well. A critique I have is to make the boxes less transparent as its getting really hard to see smaller text as it gets lost within the colors and shapes of the background.
