Unfortunately I did not do any roughs for this but here is the research.
Notes To Help Improve Website

• White space makes the website easier to read.
• In order to increase page speed, one way to start is to compress images
• Make “call to action” buttons attractive
• Make hyperlinks intuitive and noticeable. This can be done by underlining or changing the color
• Use bulletpoints, but they can be designed as icons to make them more visually engaging.
• Using stock photography by itself can decrease trust
• Use keywords in heading to improve SEO
• Be consistent with everything (i.e. font choices, spacing)
• Watch out for error 404
• Make sure viewports are responsive and mobile friendly

• Analogous hues can make a soothing gradient effect
• Red can signal passion/anger/danger
• Orange is friendliness/motivation/enthusiasm
• Yellow is joy/happiness/sunlight
• Green is positive/calm/nature
• Blue is trust/reliability
• Purple is loyalty/luxury/wealth
• Pink is youthful/romantic
• Black in the west is evil/death in the east it’s strength/wisdom
• White is cleanliness/light

Website Research/Brainstorm
Yasmin Bean

• Navigation bar isn’t organized
• Sections aren’t properly organized
• Scroll and background need to be fixed
• Change the font
• Two unnecessary navigations
• Animations not working. When paused the background flashes white
• Editor Details not properly listed

Things I can improve:
• Reorganize the navigation
• Fix the font
• Get rid of the “animation”
• Properly categorize the information
• Fix the calendar/use those dates to create a slideshow at the top of the page
• Give the map its own section
• Redo social hyperlinks

Site Needs and Goals
Yasmin Bean

The basic overview of the project is to make the Yale school of Art Website more aesthetic and accessible. The single purpose of the sight is to inform people of the events occurring. The secondary goal of the site is to convince prospective students to join the school.

My target audience is prospective students, eighteen and up, any gender, who enjoy creating art. A typical user may look there for information on the school events and how they may apply to the school. I want them to think and feel that the school is worth going to and I want them to enroll. Some adjectives that can be used are: expressive, diligent, noteworthy, and colorful.

The overall message I’m trying to convey to my target audience is, that the Yale School of Art is reliable, expressive, and informative. I will convey this message by giving proper white space, having organized information, engaging font, and much more. Some specific visual goals are color, whether they’re complimentary, gradient, or anything else. I will measure the success of the website by adding a thumbs up and thumbs down for each page.

The competition is The University of Utah and The Julliard School of Arts. My website will differ from theirs because it will have more color and creativity instead of the usual blocks. In my sight I would like to add Utah’s navigation bar and a similar version of Julliard’s slide show.

A phrase to describe the website once it’s launched is, “Creative, Expressive, Free.”
