In these two final roughs that I end up with I wanted to make sure that my Emphasis was on my images, because these are representing me. I placed these images on the right hand side of my page because your eyes will scan across my page to focus in on my images and then going back to the top left to get into reading position.
I am very well know in my small but mighty art portfolio to work best in high contrast black and white. It is a color scheme (funny that you all think that white and black are not colors) that I am in love with. Then for a hint of spice I occasionally add a tiny splash of color. I would have to say that the film Schindler's List had a huge emotional impact on me. So since then I seem to carry that feeling in all my work.
The balance that I chose for both compositions was Asymmetrical balance. Though I do have an OCD personality, my work and my life are anything but straight/perfect (as in outsider looking in). Plus I love crazy messy art and I take the Pollock approach to life and let things splatter where they will.
I did make sure to leave plenty of white space on both compositions so that the viewer could have a resting spot for their eyes. Unity was used with the use of low opacity bounding boxes to make sure that the viewer could easily navigate my pages, taking into consideration that it is image and color heavy. The bounding boxes also help with the direction of flow on my page making sure that first bounding box of information would be the top one with my projects in it so that they wouldn’t get lost in the web looking at the inspiration sites.
All in all I personally love both layouts. If I decided to use the first one I will make sure to capture a picture of projects one and two and put them in full color as links to see them closer. And in the second layout I will do the same but opposite, I will capture a grayscale picture of them and us them as buttons.

Thank you Did a whole lot of research on layout designs and it all seemed to just "click" i realized you just have to jump in with both feet. In GRC 119 it seemed much more of a challenge; It was like i built the website upside down and backwards.

Good work! Design is very nice, its easy to navigate on both versions of pages, and your design does not look "blocky" like plenty of other sites.

Thanks Lexe! I think it looks good to add a background image and then decrease the opacity on it. It seems to give it a bit more life.

just remember that each graphic element you want to be live, like a button, must be on a separate layer, i need to start on mine

Hi Jenny,
Very creative work! I really like both, but if I had to pick one I'd choose the second one (with Lenx photo). I like the typefaces you have chosen as well as the color palette. The one comment I have for this layout is that the leading between "Breitrick" and the paragraph copy below feels cramped to me. I wonder if increasing the leading size to equal the leading of the paragraph text would clean it up? Again, really nice creative work on both.

Hi Jenny,
Great concepts. The first one, with the sketches, definitely gives me the artist feel when I look at it. I love the sketches as images. The second one has great eye catching colors with the stark red and black. Nice work so far!

i like both concepts however i feel the 2nd one is a stronger webpage for a designer then the first which seems more like a photography site to me.

I think your use of original imagery is very strong. I am definitely getting a dark, melancholy vibe from your work, although it's not completely without hope, which is nice.
I am drawn to your sketched background the most, although I do like how you laid out the boxes in the photograph design. I know, it's completely frustrating and borish of me, but I sort of want to combine those elements from both designs.
I'm not in love with your type choices though. How's your handwriting? Your site feels so personal, I sort of want to see it taken all the way, you know?
