Hello these are my prelims for the layouts. I got some inspiration from old Myspace days the ones with all the glittery flashy backgrounds as well as some space/fantasy kind of vibe, The websites I found inspiration from the most was RCA records because of their bright colors and bright color scrolling banners they have on their homepage. Unseen.co I really enjoyed their fantasy and VR layout on their homepage which inspired me and the FPP.net I liked their simple layout because it was still appealing to look at and actually got me to scroll their placement of photos and color pallets were all appealing to me.
This might sound weird but I like The Mobile #1 Design and I like The Desktop #2 Design!
The 1st Desktop Design is a bit overwhelming with also hard to read font! However that gets fixed with the Mobile Design!
The 2nd Mobile Design is generally too bright! That's really my one complaint! I will say though the Desktop #2 Design does feel a bit overwhelming too but less than #1 Desktop, Plus I like the colors more than the star background!
Overall well done for a prelim! Excited to see the future product!
Hello Ashley,
I love the overall aesthetic of both layouts, it’s giving out a lot of fantasy vibes and shows off a lot of your personal touches. I also like how you experimented with different shapes and text boxes. One thing I would recommend would be making the body text more legible with a different font for the second set. The curved edges are great for expression for your name, but with the body text it does feel a bit overwhelming. Keep up with the strong aesthetic and expressions!
Hi Ashley,
I really like how you personalized and played around with the functionality of your designs! Your design layouts definitely remind me of a personalized Myspace page, and I think that makes your designs really stand out in a good way. I think your colors work well, and the shapes you use for your links are a great touch as well. However, one thing I'd suggest is to consider the type or the sizing of the type you're using on your layouts, because it seems to make your flower design look cluttered and hard to read. Overall, I really like the creative direction you decided to go with, and I think you did a really good job!
Hello Ashley,
I really like the two designs that you have come up with. I especially like the first web layout as well as the first mobile layout. I like how you chose to make clickable star icons for the projects. I think that the first one also does a nice job at being visually appealing without getting too busy. I'm not sure if you want the web layout and mobile layout to be different color pallets, but if not then I would probably just focus on making them more cohesive to each other. Other than that I think that you did a really great job!
I like your first design better, Ash. That's a cool nebula background and I like the star button navigation.
The background images add depth and visual interest to the composition. I like that you chose a vertical one for your mobile design to lead the eye straight down it and a horizontal one on your computer version to lead the eye across it. Your layout is easy to move my eye around and I have no problem finding all the parts of it. I like the way the computer layout has very clear info blocks. Title and nav on one side, text on the other. Breaks it up nicely and makes it easy to read. Your cool little Walk of Fame star navigation is easy to see and, probably, to use. One little detail I really like about your computer version is the way you've nested the TMCC logo with your second star button. I like your type choices on your mobile layout as well. They seem to blend readability and legibility the best of all your typefaces. Your pics on both the computer version and mobile version go well with your space theme.
I'd recommend keeping the fonts the same between your mobile and computer versions. I'd say your mobile fonts are working better than your computer fonts so go with those. I don't think you need to horizontally crunch your bopdycopy near as much as you did on your computer version. Just reduce the font size a couple of points. That will make it fit easier and be more legible and readable. It's working just fine on your mobile version after all. You need a little more vertical marging on your objects. They all seem a little vertically tight. I also don't think you need to outline everything. Either darken/lighten your background or darken/lighten/make white your text (see your mobile version) and logo and it'll pop nicely off your background. Or you can use bars like you did on your mobile design.
Good effort!
Alos, don't forget to put your name in your forum sig.

Both of your design are awesome to look at! The do have an older web feel to them which is really fun, my favorite is the star design. The only thing I'd tweak is the spacing, everything feels just a little smushed together.
Hi Ashley! Really loving the purple you have in your design roughs! You're font and design choices seem all over the place though, and your website might feel more cohesive if you use the same ones in both your desktop and mobile versions, that way someone knows they're still on the same site when they switch browsers!
I like the first one better. It is spacey and beautiful. However, think you could organize it better, with pages in the same place as resources, and perhaps put those in one space as to not confuse the user. The fonts could also be simplified, especially for the body parpgraph. A simple sans serif would work nicely and increase readability. The mobile version is much more organized and has better feel. The colors also work better on that one. I think this looks good and I can’t wait to see it finished!
Hi Ashley!
I really like the designs you chose, especially the one with the flowers. I like how you used the middle of the flowers to accentuate the Project Links. The font choice is also really pretty and the scripture in the web version of the first design is such a pretty choice! If there was one thing I would change I would maybe incorporate the flower designs around the project links in your mobile version as well.
