Project01 Preliminary

Post by Adrian_Brewster »

Hello! Here are my two roughs I came up with! I wanted to push my creativity with my designs and include things that are tied to me personally.
My first design I wanted to include some fish themes as it's my nickname and I love drawing/designing different types of fish. While aesthetically it is my favorite design I am leaning more towards my second rough for my final as I believe it works better for a website. My second rough is based off of decorations on my own bedroom wall. I plan on adding some more detail to what's on the shelf. As for now I am happy with what I have!

Here are the websites that inspired me a lot creatively. Especially Anaa Lauras website! I really enjoyed her use of colors and how different her website design is from your typically website. I wanted to do something similar with my website design. The little monkeys are so adorable too :D
The Oak and Willow website had a really good layout that I enjoyed, I used this website to compare how the mobile looked verses its pc version. The stripe they have included within. their website is my favorite part aesthetically.

Hi Adrian,
I really like the personal designs you went with here. They're both unique in their own way and show off your personality. The wide variety of themes is also visually eye-catching and adds a subtle story to it. The visual graphics also look pretty great! One thing I would recommend though is that for the bookshelf design, your image and the graphic behind the body text slightly fight each other. What I mean by that is your photo has sharp corners, while the body text box has rounded corners. Maybe make both corners rounded or make the picture smaller so the corners aren't too next to each other on the frame. Keep up the nice imagery and colors for both layouts!

Hey Adrian!

I like the concepts and themes of your designs! For starters, I would say for the Aquatic theme perhaps keep the fish, however, make them a colored outline, or at least simplified it more since im focusing on the fish itself and not the Text inside. Otherwise, I really like the aquatic theme! Also recommend making the text for your about me section just pure white instead of a gray, easier to see from a far and much more readable.

Now for your school/educational theme design, I personally believe it's one of the best I've seen, so simple, so organized, very readable, Font Fits The Theme, It's so amazing!

I truly enjoy both, you have a lot of options and I am truly excited to see the final product!

Hi Adrian,
I love how decorated you made your preliminary roughs, especially the fish-themed one! I think it was a great idea that you decided to really personalize your layouts because it makes your homepage look exciting to navigate, drawing attention to the viewer. One thing I would suggest is to maybe change the color or style of type in the description of your fish design because it's hard to see when looking at it from a distance, and consider where you'll put your name on your homepage layouts. But overall, you have some really solid designs that barely need any touch ups! Amazing job!

Hi Adrian,

Wow! Both of your designs look really fun and easy to navigate, I especially liked the fish themed one. The only suggestion I have is perhaps play around with the color of the fish with the project links, they blend into the blue background.

Hi Adrian,
I really love both of your designs! I think that they could both work really well for your website even the fish! I would have to agree with you however that the second design is very strong and reads very well. It is a well planned, well thought out, and easy to understand design. Overall I think that you did a really great job!

I love the fish but I think the layout and colors of the first one is better. It’s creative and it’s obvious your art is in it but still very readable. The type face is fun and readable. It feels like some old video game. The colors seem to match everything. I think maybe the links and resources could be a little larger and aligned to give the pic and bio a little more space but overall I think it is really strong and it looks great!

I like your seascape one the best, Fish. It's got great theming and is more visually interesting.

The fish buttons are just hilarious. There's your navigation, just swimmin' around. They certainly make for an easy to see and use navigation. I'm curious to see what you'll do with your rollover state when you build it into a real web page for Project Two. I also like the eel portal that's summoning a photo of you. That's a great frame for your image. Looks like something out of The Little Mermaid. I'm gonna start signing Sebastian the Crab songs over here if I'm not careful. Great colors as well. They really sell that your website is under water. Your blue background adds depth to the whole thing as well. Good choice on your typography too. It's soft and looks like it could be fish markings or rock etchings or whatever. And it's very easy to read.

I'd recommend taking down your bodycopy a point or two to give you a little more padding around the inside of your container and increase the distance between the type and the edge of the container.

Great work!

Hi Adrian, nice to meet you! I really love both of your designs, its hard to pick a favorite between the two when their both so unique! I am slightly leaning to your aquatic themed one, I really enjoy how you executed those sea creatures and used them as buttons for your site! The only issue I can find is that your missing a mention of TMCC! Maybe you could add the logo in with some seaweed around it, or even just add the text TMCC into a corner. Awesome work!!

Hi Adrian,
The attention to detail in these designs is really impressive! The first design has a cozy, handcrafted vibe with the wooden shelf and framed text. The color palette is warm and inviting. The text could be slightly larger or bolder to improve readability against the textured background. The second design, with the underwater theme, is super creative and visually engaging. The fish and water elements make it feel dynamic, but the text placement could be adjusted to ensure it doesn’t get lost among the visuals. Both designs have a lot of personality and I'm excited to see which one you choose!
