Project 01 Preliminary

Post by laked02 »

For both of my website designs, I wanted to go with something clean and simple with a little bit of flare that would showcase my personality. Both are very opposite designs, but both also represent my personality differently. In my first design, I chose my favorite color and added some drop shadows to give it a little bit more dimension. I wanted to keep both designs clean, so my layout and navigation are kept simple and obvious. I tried to keep my name as the focal point of the design instead of the class name. For my second design, I went with a neutral color that I think complements the modern and clean look I was going for. Again, I wanted to keep it simple but added some shape to keep it interesting.
Here are my two inspiration websites; both of these websites are simple in layout and in color, and I wanted to create something similar in that sense.

Hello Lakelyn,
These are great designs! The monochrome color palettes brings a modern and minimalist vibe to them. The additional shape graphics also add some playfulness and cohesiveness to the websites. The simple layout is also good for the daily user. I think the designs would feel more complete with an image, though I understand it’s only a placeholder. Great work!

Hey Lakelyn!

Amazing Work! Honestly My favorite is the 2nd design, very simple, very eye appealing, and overall great layout positioning!
The 1st design, I do like, but the green is a bit too harsh for my eyes! Perhaps Lighter versions of the color will help! (Opinion here though!)

Great Job! The 2nd Design is honestly to me almost a final product already!

Excited to see the final product!

Hello Lakelyn,
I really like both designs although I lean more towards the first. I like the simple layout and the graphics in the back although maybe theyre a little overpowering on the bottom of the green mobile layout. Great work!

Hi Lakelyn,
I like the contrast between the two designs you did. The monochromatic color pallet you chose also fits really well and keeps everything very neat and clean. I think adding the green box as a rectangle instead of encapsulating the entire area was a good choice because it gives you plenty of room to add those leaf patterns in your background.
I also think that the Gray design you did is neat. The tints of gray paired with the X and O's makes the design look very sophisticated and professional looking.
Overall I think you did a great job! It's hard for me to find anything that I would necessarily like to change but keep experimenting with different positioning if you really want to go into detail with it.

Hi Lakelyn,
I think both of your preliminary designs look really awesome, and I think the layout of your navigation looks really good too! The way you made the background graphics subtle was a really successful decision, because it doesn't take away from the main content on the homepage. One thing I would suggest is to play around with a solid color for your boarder around the type in your green mobile design, because the translucent boarder makes the type blend in with the background a bit. But overall, I think you have some really solid designs!

Hi Lakelyn,

Both of your designs are great. They're both very calming to look at, I especially liked the green design! My only suggestion would be, add more space to the frame around your name in the desktop rough to match the mobile rough.

Hi Lakelyn! I really love the green and plant theme you did for you first design, but I think your second has a better layout for web design! I think my only issue is that your backdrop isn't centered like on your mobile version like it is on the desktop, because the rest of your mobile version seems consistent with your desktop version, so it feels a bit off.

Hi Lakelyn,
I really like both of the designs that you have made. I really like the watermark art/effects in the back of the layouts. I especially like the first layout with the plant watermark. I think the circle around the logo and the lines outlining your name are a great touch to the design! Overall I think that you did a really great job!

I really enjoy the second one. I think you could use white for your title color to make it pop more but the font matches the background nicely and the colors are very professional yet interesting. The X on the corner of the pic is also a good touch. I think it is easy to look at, however I would make sure the X and O don’t overlap the page titles, like on “HOME” and “PROJECTS” on the mobile version. The TMCC stamp in the corner is also tasteful. I think it is a really solid design and I look forward to the final product.
