Morning everyone
Here are my two drafts of what I would like my design to look like. I struggled for a good minute on what I wanted to do for the design, that i went through two before i started to like them. Though it gave me a hard time it was also fun to try and make my own design with no restrictions.
For the first design I decided to go along with my love of the Asian culture. I had first started out with grabbing a background of my choice then slowly started adding the details. I kept the color schemes fairly simple and used already what I had except I had decided to add grey into it. I tried using font that would look like it went apart with the looks. For my web based image I left it alone as is, however for the mobile I added blur to the background due to pixel complications. I was gonna try for the web as well however since i had put up blocks that covered parts it was more noticeable which didn't sit well with my eyes.
For the second design i decided to use the effect from the first, which was blur, and blurred the whole background. This background I happened to take myself while I used to travel for soccer tournaments. Then, as again filled in the requirments as needed. I used fonts with the more active look and used a lot of big words which made it look bold. For colors i used whatever i had in my scenery as to not add or contrast and conflict with the design itself.
These were my two refernce websites though I belive i mainly went with the first one, however both had helped me decided on the final look. These webs offer visuals, colors, contrast, very cool animations, and more.

Re: Project 01 Preliminary
Hello Gerardo! I love these designs, especially how you created the tabs for the home, resources, and projects. The folder tabs for the first design is a creative way to show off them, and the other design with the large font and stippling effect is very eye catching. Both websites are pretty unique and a different approach to showing off your personality. I think one thing that would benefit you greatly though would be maybe adding a third color to the color palette, especially for the body text. They kind of blend into the background for both designs. Not only that, but I believe adding another complimentary color could add more visual interest as well. Great designs!

Hey Gerardo!
I do like the concept of the first design, however, it's a bit harsh on the eyes! Otherwise I do like the layout and concept, but perhaps a different color combination may help!
The 2nd Design is neat too, a bit hard to read on the text since its a multi-colored background with just plain black text, Perhaps adding Color Shapes in the back of the text may help but also keep a organized layout!

Hi Gerardo,
I really enjoyed the design of the first rough! One thing I'd say is that the color scheme makes it hard to read the text and information, the second design is a lot easier on the eyes thanks to the larger font though it also has some darker areas where the words blend in with the background.

Hi Gerardo,
I really like how different your two preliminary designs turned out! I do like the overall concept with the black and red design, especially with that cool Japanese theme in the background, but I do think it's hard to read the red text and it takes away from the focus on the project links. However, I do think your other design seems much easier to navigate, but the mix between the serif and sans serif typefaces makes it seem a little jumbled on the page. Other than that, I think you did a great job and I'll be looking forward to your final design!

Hi Gerardo,
I like the approach you took with your designs. The first one especially sticks out to me because of the bold imagery. I also like that its personal to you and your culture. The only thing I would reccomend is consider making your "Home" and "Resources" tab stick out more by changing the color or maybe even adding a glow to it.
Your second design is also very well done. I like how you emphasizes the Three main links with a real rough and fun font. I also like how overall clean and readable the site it.
I would say my favorite is the first design because I think there is so much you can do with the design, and it really showcases your personality.
Good Work!

Hi Gerardo,
I really like the two design layouts that you have come up with. I especially like the second one. I really like the background and I love the font that you used. It really stands out with the background rays. You could think about putting a shape behind the text, or changing the color because it does start to get a little lost the darker the background gets. Overall though I think that you did a really great job!

I think the first one with the red and black art is a really fun twist. I think the red should be lighter though. It feels really dark, lightening up your text would also help with this, and perhaps a cleaner for the body of text. The bamboo coming from your pages is really fun as well in the desktop version. I think you did a good job and can’t wait to see the final product!

I like your first design the best, Gerardo. It feels like the cover of a Chinese trap & bass album.
When I look at it, it just feels like the design I'd see on the back of a jacket somewhere. I like your font choices as well. Your title and class info font blends well with your dragon image and your marker font work well on your button and for your bodycopy. It really sells that your buttons, bodyopy, and image caption are handwritten and yet, it's not difficult to read. Speaking of those file folder navigation buttons, that's a great bit of skeuomorphism and makes your navigation stand out. It should be pretty easy to use once you build this out as a real webpage for Project 2. I like how you use them as a divider between design and content on your mobile version.
The big thing this composition needs is a little contrast. It's all very dark and some lighter bits would stand out. In particular, your class info, file shaped navigation buttons, and the silver behind your image and bopdycopy. Just making those a little lighter would pop them out and give the eye something to grab on to. Watch the top and bottom margins on your bodycopy on your mobile version. They're a little tight.
Not bad!

Hey Gerardo! I really like your first design the dragon is a very cool visual to have for your website. I understand the pixelated resolution probably becomes more obvious on the mobile version, but I think blurring it that much hurts the design versus fixing it. I'm not sure what program you use, but in photoshop you could either blur it by 0.1 or 0.5 px so its only slightly blurry.
