I had one goal in mind when approaching Project One, and that was to use some of my own artwork in both roughs.
The first design is playful, and it uses a self-portrait I drew a couple of years ago for a drawing class. I call it the Bubblegum rough. Why gum? I like it. I chew several pieces every day.
For the second design I wanted to go in a more abstract, geometric direction, so I masked a photo-collage inside of letterforms that represent my initials. This design appeals to my need for beautiful structure at all times.
I have three links for the "inspiration" requirement:
First, I've always loved Jim Carrey's website. http://jimcarrey.com/
Second, I saw this video for Franz Ferdinand the other day, and I thought the animation work was awesome.

Finally, the MOMA in NYC is launching a show called Inventing Abstraction. I found it because I'm inspired by abstract art, but the way the website organizes the information is well done. http://www.moma.org/interactives/exhibi ... ?page=home

Hi Rebecca!
I am really enjoying the first design. The first one I can see it being playful and fun, but the bubble gum needs some opacity to it to illustrate gum more so than a big blob. I would maybe make the bullet point balls a little smaller, no opacity on them as you have it. I like how you used the color on your last name with a thicker font. Its fun. We have the same color scheme

Hi Rebecca!
You always make it so difficult as you always, always, always do such great designs. Every time. I think, personally, I prefer the second one. I think they are both awesome but I find it very clever and visually appealing how you created your initials and gave your design and layout such an awesome flow. My eye goes exactly where it is supposed to go and sees everything on the page being led by the r. Nice work! You always inspire me!

Both are so original and amazing, I may have to kill you. I believe that the second is the most visually interest but the pink in Layout one is......wait for it........popping!

I always look forward to seeing your work as it is always first rate and these are no exception. If I was forced to choose I think I would go with the second one because like you, I like geometric art. fantastic work

Rebecca,
I'm leaning towards the geometric second concept. It's very striking and very well produced.

Both layouts are well done. I really like the second one. It really emphasizes your strengths as a designer and I think the color scheme is excellent. My only suggestion for the second layout is that the thickness of the weight on the type you are using for body copy tends to de-emphasize your headlines and sub-headlines in my eyes. I think the thin weight works for the headlines, perhaps maybe a body copy with a thinner weight would help. Excellent work as usual.
