Hm.
An interesting set of designs. Your first is a clean and simple design that uses gradients to demark space and functions as a frame or backdrop for images. The second stands beside the product images as an object and uses layout and pattern to supplement the information presented in your images.
I think I like the simpler layout of your first design, but I prefer the two shades of blue, two shades of brown color scheme of your second. The diamond pattern behind the navigation is far too distracting and brightly colored; it dominated your navigation, information, images and anything else this website may be trying to say. Lose it. But keep the blues and browns of the design. They give off a warmth that pulls you in.
I also like the navigation gathered together on one side in your first one.
The homepage of your first one is also, very strong. I like the big image of the flute dominating all comers and non-verbally communicating what this website is all about. Typographically, I like your font choice, but I do not like the way it's narrowed. Let it breathe a bit. You've got room.
As for the inner page on your first design, it's looking good, but I would pick a uniform image size and stick to that. Also I would use a non-bold version of your font for the body copy. Bold's fine for headlines, but it makes bodycopy seem "shouty"
Good work!

Good improvement, I would go with the blue one, it looks much cleaner. Also I might just add more thing and maybe created more variation in color and contract to create a more visually interesting combination. Good start!

Hi, Paula.
Great start, though I'm unsure of the colors used in the first layout, which I think is easier to navigate than the second one. Perhaps try making a definite-bordered main container, because I'm not sure the varying gradients work so well, but that's just my opinion. Also, Consider going with a different color for your typeface because it throws me off, being technically still blue yet not the same hue as the background. Perhaps choose an analogous color instead?

Paula,
I like the logo you created! It's playful and I think suits the idea pretty nicely. I prefer the first design more. I think the second one's background is pretty distracting, and the first one seems more cohesive. Nice start!

Hey Paula,
Of these two, I'm leaning more to the second layout. While the first layout definitely emphasizes the 'blue' of Blue Bear Flutes, the second layout seems to better communicate the Native American roots in a subtle way, and having blue as an accent color actually seems to emphasis it more. So I say go for the second one, both are off to a good start.

I like the design 2.
The color choice is really nice.
First design is king of too much blue
I think you can improve a navigation bar a little bit.
It's good idea to put the bar into the side patterns, but it's hard to find it.
So, you may move the navigation to the top instead of the side.
Other than that, it's great job!
