I am Gwendolyn. I used my connection to my culture, family, and home to design my sites. I am not familiar with Photoshop and look forward to improving my skills with the program. I designed my websites based on the inspiration of the two links below. I liked the use of nostalgia from one site and the way different images were highlighted from the other site.

Re: Preliminary Website
I like your top design better than the bottom one, that photo banner on the top really adds some variety and personality to your website. If you add a drop shadow or change the font color on the text over the photo it would be easier to read. If possible, I would switch out the black TMCC logo with the white or lime green one since it's easier to read on the photograph, or move the logo to a different location. Also consider making your email text larger so it's easier to read.
I think you're doing a great job with Photoshop so far!

I agree with Lauren. The top design is definitely more interesting. Changing the TMCC logo color would keep it from getting lost in the background. I would use a less decorative type for the class info and a different color. Me and Lauren could show you some stuff in Photoshop to help the type from getting lost without changing or repositioning the photo. I would also consider removing the background of the photo with the moccasins or taking out the photo all together and replacing it with your email address.

Hi, Gwendolyn! You're off to a nice start on both designs, though the first version appeals to me because of the images. By way of feedback, I'd say a quick way to make either design successful would be through narrowing your choice of typography. Some typefaces conflict with other typefaces. For example, in your second version, you have two "specialty" fonts -- Papyrus and something vaguely Celtic (over the Pacific Northwest indigenous artwork) -- and those two typefaces conflict. The quick solution is to use one really clean, plain typeface for your primary and then a specialty typeface used sparingly, such as for your name.
Good luck ... I look forward to seeing what's next!

I am enjoying the imagery you used in your first design. I like the colors it brings out and I feel like it adds more of your personality. The only thing that I can see that needs a little help is the TMCC logo. It is getting a little lost on that background. Maybe if you change the color and add some contrast it will help it pop off the page. Good start!
