Project 2, roughs, Sushi Restaurant

Post by raoki »

I made my roughs by hand because of what the project sheets says, but it's no longer allowed(but Michael said I can use them only this time) so I'll create in digital hereafter.
My friend is owning a sushi restaurant called Hiroba, and they serve good food but the website looks terrible.haha
So I'm working on this for him and myself.

Hiroba's website: http://hirobasushireno.com/index.html

The first design is like spring, makes viewers feel comfortable.

This second design is more like classic and cooler. I tried to show the black background but it doesn't show well. Both background color is going to be black.

I think that from what I can tell, I like the first layout design better. The spring theme is very popular for sushi restaurants and cherry blossoms do make me think about Japan, so that's good. I like the layout for the menu you've created as well, it has nice little sections of varying size for interest. I look forward to seeing what your actual layout will look like.

Your first design is the one I like the best. The layout works well. The colors work well together as well.

I agree with the previous comments - I like your first set of roughs. Maybe because it's springtime, but it seems more inviting to me. I like the layout of the cover and the inside information is well organized, yet interesting. Did you say these pages were going to have black backgrounds as well or just the other set of roughs. I was wondering how you'd pull off that spring feeling with black backgrounds but may have misunderstood.

Enjoy your roughs! The first design is my favorite bringing in the spring design really works. Hiroba is my favorite sushi restaurant in town and I look forward to seeing this on the web. Great work! Jodi

Hi Remi!

I actually think it would be pretty cute if you polish up and use your illustrations in your final design with that sketchy pencil style. Just an idea!
From your roughs I definitely like the first design more. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done!

I think the spring time design definitely would be interesting to see fleshed out. As for something to watch out for is the menu page as it can get cluttered up with all the options and pictures but i'm sure it'll look less busy when its digitized nicely done.

Your first design is really cute, I like that you made the navigation on both sites vertical rather than horizontal, your lay out for your first design has great hierarchy and and I think the images really bring the whole thing together.

Remi, I prefer the top version without the Japanese script, as Hiroba has a mostly-American audience. I also didn't mind that they were pencil sketches ... I haven't seen a well-rendered site done all in line-art, so it made me think that might be a very interesting way to go. Anyway, good luck!
