Hi, Kaycee! Great start jumping into site design ... I applaud both of your efforts and like that you've taken a different visual tack with each version.

I am going to agree with Remi in that I prefer the unity of the pinkish/peach design, although I like the "what's black and white and read all over" approach to version 2. One of the things that really struck me early on about design is the idea that "real" designers don't put their type in boxes; they use a concept called alignment to create harmonious type layouts without using a box. I think layout #2 (your first choice) would be stronger if the About Me part was free-floating but aligned left wit the right edge of your photo.

Good luck!

Hey Kaycee!

I really love you first design. I love the texture you used for the background and the soft and feminine colors really help capture your personality. I'm much more partial to soft feminine colors though so that might be why I like it so much.

For your second design I like the idea but I think you should try using different type for it. You could try using more sans serif type faces to give it a more modern look. The texture in the background is a bit too distracting in my opinion, maybe lowering the opacity would make it look better? I also agree about losing the text box.

I feel like either design could work but you seem to like the second one more so I would go with that one.

Hi Kacey, both of your lay outs look great but I really enjoy your top one more. I think it serves a great hierarchy in terns of your image, navigation and body copy. What I enjoy the most is your warm orange color that primarily dominates the page, its has a lot of unity. The only think I though needed a bit of work was the image of yourself in the top right corner. It's very close to the edge of the layout and it is creating a tangent.

I like the color and style in your first design. It creates a nostalgic feel. Increasing the transparency of the patterned background would make the text easier to see.

I like the use of sections in your second site. Increasing the transparency of the patterned background would make the text easier to see.
