I think I enjoy the first design out of the two, the one against the city. I just think that it's easier to read rather than the angular links in the second design. With the light background it helps the text to pop even though its a lot of darker colors, but I think that the use of lighter text in the dark areas works well overall. I would maybe suggest a bolder stoke on your name and the links, that way they'll pop out more.
