Project 1 -Final Design by Peelio

Post by Peelio »

Hey everyone!

Here is my final design for Project 1.
  • grc175_project01_final_design_mp.jpg
I chose the nature themed design with the "M" over the minimalist design because it flows better. The title typeface wasn't quite right so I changed it. The background photo is different than the previous version. I might continue to play around with it. Any suggestions? The middle block was changed from dark gray to blue-green in hopes of adding a little emotion to it. My logo is also simpler and cleaner.

Thanks!

I really like how this one turned out. The dull colors on the image overall only to become vibrant on your letter M is a color design choice here. Worried about your body copy being to small however.

Your Website is looking very nice everything is well put together and the only problem I have with your website is that your logo is kinda out of place just siting in the bottom, maybe move it more towards the edges of the page.

I really like your layout. It's pretty professional and minimal, yet very strong. I would agree with Kyler, branding is very, very important. You want to make your logo the first thing people see or give it its own space.

Your colors are consistent and harmonic. Pretty good job there.

I believe your green container does not need to be there or would work best with a dull dark color or a color that matches the most abundant color in your background picture to make your M really burst. Probably your green color would work for your headlines or links, just an idea.

Again, your design screams art and gallery big time!!

Interesting. You went with a good ol' fashioned swimmin' hole instead of a mossy rock for your final image.

I think what sticks out to me is all the margin work you've done on this final version. It really gives it a nice visual flow and helps lock everything together. Your enlarged navigation is really helping too. Blending your logo with the background photo was really a strong choice. The logo design works a bit better too. The other one looked a bit like a button. This looks like a natural part of the design. I still like all the little visual contrast touches you've carried over. My favorite is still the title breaking out of your main content area. The punched out colorized letter is still strong also. Ditto the content area being a mask.

I think I liked your mossy rock image in the preliminary version better though.

Nice!

I honestly have no comments for your website. I think it is beautiful and everything looks really well together. I don't even know what you could fix since it already looks great.

Good Job!

Cool design. I like how vibrant the letters are on your "M" and how they stand out next to your photo. Would make your logo bigger. Would change the type on your body copy. Think it is hard to read. Think you are on your way to doing good branding for yourself.

The background change made it easier to see what was going on, but I feel that you lost some cool textures. Regardless, the change still works really well. You might want to experiment with the color of the M block, the turquoise doesn't have enough contrast for my eye. You could also try placing your logo to the bottom right of the page just to see what that looks like.

This design is so COOL! I would take the saturation on your "M" down a bit, as it is really bright, but other than that your layout is 10/10 in my book :)
