Project2 Roughs

Post by matt »

hi everyone,

I picked this website to redo. The business is premier jewelry and loan. The original website can be found here: http://www.premierjewelryloan.com . I feel like this is a prelim of how the structure could be set up and I feel like there is much more work to be done here. Thanks for checking them out.

Nice business to choose! I love the stacks of cash, beautiful!! One suggestion you might want to think about is a different way of expressing the business without an exterior picture of it, or at least not as the main image. good job!

Hm. These designs seem a little muddy to me. A few too many transparent windows, methinks. Also, where are your sample inner pages?

I like your second design myself. I think there are the makings of something good there. You've got a nice high contrast header in place for navigation and titling to go, and the image itself has a good high contrast bottom. I like the white and green contrast on your text too. Particularly "loans" in green. Very strong idea planting there. The more I look at it, the stronger the image gets. It conveys atmosphere extremely well and it also has the benefit of already including your logo, which establishes the brand right away and saves you having to include it. I think your type would make for a good bodycopy type. It's very clean and conveys information well.

I really don't think you need the semi-transparent boxes though. The blue sky is plenty light enough for your address, or any other content you want to put up there. The photo's lower edge is plenty dark to pop light-colored type, especially if it's bolded a bit. And, it grays out your logo and messes with your branding. Also, the pages need some sort of navigation so you can move around the website from page to page. I think that black top bar would be a good candidate. I don't think your type would make for a good headline type. Maybe a bolder version of it, or a different type for titles.

Good effort!

I like the building or maybe a shot of the inside being on the homepage! I would stray away from the casinos image if these are safe and secure loans lol or maybe thats who you are targeting...

I agree with the others on this one the tagline - safe, secure, confidential - could be conveyed more powerfully. The simple background plays on expectations, whereas the arch and the outside facade of the building aren't as expressive. Maybe use the images for navigation items?

These all just run together, maybe not put so many graphics in the reno arch area.

I like the big pawn shop sign. It looks like it could make part of a logo or just a great eye-catching image. i would make it big and bright and beautiful. keep going. :)

I'm having a hard time seeing the whole vision. I like the images you chose. The Reno sign is very dynamic and interesting, but I think the second image describes more what the site is about.

I like the second two better just because it shows the business rather than the arch which in my opinion is a tad overused. I would like to see how you plan body copy and other things. overall your layout seems very organized.

I like the ones with the arch. I think the image is really cool but it is hard to read. So maybe move everything to the bottom?
