GRC 175 Learning and Discussion Forum

I tried to do color and be creative and it wasn't the direction I felt good about. Then looking at some of my favorite sites it became clear that I didn't need a lot of color just a clean layout. I am getting behind rethinking and not doing so here it is. The sites that helped me a bit were the https://www.nationalgeographic.com/
and https://www.vogue.com/. The sites inspired the use of minimal color where it was used to no color in the background. I think I may want to add a subtle photo in the background for interest. Sorry I'm late, too.

Interesting, different designs. I think the first design is going in the right direction in trying to balance color with neutral (black, white, gray) areas, and the second design has some interesting shapes.
One thing to fix would be to even up the spacing between your lines of text in the pinwheel layouts and make sure each "button" has its own space (although I suspect that's largely due to you being rushed to finish ).

I like how unique your designs are! Also, the graphics you picked for each are cool and different. I think your strongest design is the second one with those circles, especially the one with the yellow and blue. I think it would be beneficial if you carried that blue and yellow computer design to the mobile version, instead of doing the orange and the blue. The blue and yellow computer design has a great foundation for the information needed.

Hello, Your designs are a great start. I like the use of imagery, but the first one seems a bit messy. There isn't too much flow to it with all the images. In your second design, I think playing with more color choices could improve your design a bit more. Awesome start!

Hey Tandy great job on both designs. Both designs get the job done but have some areas of opportunity. I'm leaning more towards the yellow and blue design. From a layout perspective, it works. The colors are nice but you want to keep it the same across both designs that way the audience knows its the same site. The pinwheel design you have going on is really nice and unique and would work as links to your other projects. I would make sure you have everything the project requires. It looks like your missing the GRC 175 Web Design... stuff and your name. I also think a background image would help the page stand out to the audience

Hello Tandy, I think that your first rough's images look really cool but I like the second one more because it's easy to follow and the designs are nice and simple. The first one is a little hard to follow. You could definitely go with the first one too just move thing around and maybe make the images smaller.

You know, usually I'm all about that contrast, but I think I like your second design a little better, Tandy.

I think it's the color choices. Purple yellow and orange is a good little triad and works well here. I like the gradient you have on your mobile design too. Good use of the header and footer on your computer design as framing devices. The yellows catch the eye and lead it to important info like the navigation and social media links. I like your little repeating element flag graphic, too. It's visually interesting and works well as both a standalone graphic and a pattern. They almost look like computer fans on your mobile design. Heck, I think they spin if you look at them long enough. Impact is a good font choice for your headlines and navigation. It's bold and attracts the eye and is helped by the orange color you chose.

I'd probably draw your flag elements in vectors or clean them up in Photoshop so they don't have the faint white pixel matte around them. Maybe also try making your flags different colors, or tints and shades of your current colors to add a bit of visual interest. On your mobile design, make sure the vertical spacing between each button is equal some are further apart than others. I'd also snag that pretty purple to orange gradient you use in your mobile design and use it in the purple area on your computer design. Maybe also bring the yellow framing header and footer on your computer design to establish a little continuity between the two. I'm not sure if your computer design's navigation needs the box behind it at all, but if it does, make sure the box is wide enough to contain all of your buttons. Also add a little more horizontal space between your buttons right now they look like one word. Make sure your flag graphics are vertically centered. Watch your margins on your social media links. Do those social media links need to be that big?

Anyways, both designs are very interesting to look at! It gives me an intriguing vibe! I would choose the second design because it's so simple that it's so different. It gives me that cryptic experience (but in a good way though). I don't know why, but I think it would be cool to keep the second design very simple... however, at the same time... Prof. Michael wants us to put information. (Boo) On the other hand, good job!

interesting design defiantly different. I don't see where the space is for the other projects but once you add those it will be able to easier to navigate through.
