Final

Hey yall!

So for my website, I tried to change some very minor things like moving the placement of the "project," "contact," and "resources" to the side. I hope to make it more efficient and cleaner. I also did it because I wanted to try something new, if you guys prefer the old version let me know because my brain can't decide.

For my mobile, I tried to move the paragraph to the side just so it'll look more like my website. I also did a hamburger bar thing. I hope that it would help make the "project," "contact," and "resources" more visible and somewhat easier to access and understand when navigating. I also made the body font black so it's easier to read.

I also wanna add that the color looks a lot better on illustrator I don't know why the color looks funny on here. If there are some other ideas to improve my layouts I'd love to hear them.

-Thank you for critiquing!

Hi Yen! I really like the direction you went with this project, it looks amazing! I only have a few little things to critique, I would either go with black text for both or bring the color in to the mobile design, and I still feel that the picture is causing some issues with contrast, pushing the opacity down about 10% might help out. Otherwise great job!

I really like your final designs and I’m sure html will work great with it.

Ah, you did the "wine mom on a tropical vacation" one! Good choice, Yen.

This thing is such a clean and simple layout that trades on that simplicity to create a really nice design. The secret weapon here is your great use of alignment to create edges and slick through lines in your composition. Particularly with your title, nav, and bodycopy on your computer layout. You make two columns where there are none. Your image selections are very evocative as well. This is the website of someone who loudly speaks English to foreign waiters and has a framed piece of art in her kitchen that says "It's Wine O'Clock". Good use of color as well. I especially like the stealthy pale warm-gray background. It gives the whole thing an evening feel that is reinforced by your imagery. And it, along with your orange and black, work really well together. Typographically the whole thing is nice and simple as well. Everything is easy to read without being a common font. Your navigation is easy to see and use too.

I think your bodycopy and navigation would have looked just fine in black. They certainly looked plenty good on your mobile layout. Your class info type vanishes into your pic a bit on both your mobile

Good work!

Hi Yen!

YES! You picked my favorite from your preliminary layouts. I love the colors you have here and your imagery is such a fantastic choice that allows for so much freedom to carry that lively, beautiful color aesthetic throughout your layout (plus I am sucker for a good glass of wine or refreshing citrus beverage of some kind at the end of a long day/week).

Overall, your layout is super clean and modern/contemporary and it is totally my same realm of favorite design language. I think your font selection for your name and body copy is perfect for the look you're going for. My only critique in regards to text is on the mobile, the "GRC 175..." sub-line is a little hard to read on top of that image and especially when it'll be viewed on a phone, it'd be very hard as it's so small (which is should be but the color of the text is the major problem with it's readability). I think it's fine on the desktop version though as it's big enough to read while not too bold color wise to distract from the image as it is more of a copyright sort of element. The only other thing I would adjust if this were mine is the nav hamburger button for a drop down menu on the mobile doesn't totally make sense as you have the navigation also listed to the side of it (that is unless you're going to put other navigation elements in the nav which then I'd suggest why not putting your projects, resources and contact in there as well?).

Just a couple small thoughts but overall, your layout is really beautiful and eye pleasing and I think it was genius to use such a great colorful image/concept to tie it all together. Really looking forward to seeing you build this out. Fantastic job! :)

Your design yells at me, interior designer, and it looks fantastic.
I like how you added the box into the mobile version making the letters easier to see, and the sizes for all of the fonts fit the page. It is amicable and lovely to look at all together.
All the colors from the type in the web version disappeared in the mobile. It would've been nice to see them again. I get why you didn't do it.

Hello Yen,

The layouts you created are simplified and easy to navigate, which allows the colorful imagery of the wine to shine. The use of warm colors brings a cheery feel while the neutral tones of the background keep it grounded. Although I do wonder about the decision to keep the bottom image cut in half. I like the use of cool colors in the desktop version giving the composition interesting warm/cool contrast and I think you should bring that over into the mobile version as well. It also gives the design a classic sunset palette. The class information in both layouts almost blends into the image behind it so I would recommend giving it a more contrasting color, perhaps the blue or even the orange. The only other thing is that in the desktop version, several words split and continue on the next line. I would play around with trying to fix that. Good job!

Hi Yen,
I love it, nice design and layout, and I love cocktails as well, so you got me. I like the black text, I think it balances out the strong imagery. So cool.

Hey Yen,
Noo you didn't pick the lime design I liked , but that's okay because this one is way better  ! I really love the split layout within the composition because of how it gives enough ample room to read both your paragraph and navigation without any difficulty--in a sense, you had established great legibility in your design! I also do enjoy the difference in both formats (computer and mobile) where your name is placed on a different level and is also a different color--it adds even more immersion to your design and makes me already want to test out your website once it's fully developed to see if I can spot any more changes between the two!
So far, my only critiques are on the mobile design, whereas: you have to decide to choose between keeping the hamburger button or the navigation line (for example, if the projects, resources, and contact buttons are already visible on a navigation bar--then what is in the hamburger button? And if you want a more clean approach, you can have the projects, resources, etc.. buttons inside of the hamburger button; so that your name, paragraph, and class information are the only text objects visible on the homepage); and moving your body paragraph a little higher (at first I did not understand why it was so far out towards the right side, but now I see that it's supposed to be adjacent to your name on top--I think to better connect the two, the paragraph needs to be positioned a little higher near the edge of the top image). But other than that, your final designs are really great and satisfies the requirements for this project well!

Helo,
I really like the imagery that you use in the site, I think it works well and would add a touch of class on any site. I also like your use of secondary layers to put some fun images in the content areas. I wonder though if such a stark separation from the imagery doesn't segment your composition? it feels like the body copy belongs to another topic and is a bit adrift. Good luck with your project.
