I was inspired by these websites because I am infatuated with the large imagery and large quantities of color. I got really good reviews for my galaxy themed homepage so I chose to elaborate on it more. I cleaned up the triangles because they seemed too simple to fit my design. I also decided to make my shapes somewhat transparent so that you could still see the colorful background underneath, before the shapes were too prominent and chunky looking.

Hi Amber, these look awesome! They have a lot of visual interest and they have an awesome layout and look! I love the use of shapes, the triangles and hexagons make the design have an almost other-worldy look. Which fits in nicely with the space background. I might change the font for the body copy, it's a bit hard to read. But other than that these are great!

This one reminds me of space and the Bermuda Triangle. I say it’s well put together and I like the dimensional spacing around your images and typing.

Hi Amber!
Your layouts are super unique and dare I say other-worldy!
I love the galaxy space theme you went with here and your font colors and layout elements compliment the background super well.
In terms of flow and organization though I get a little lost mainly because the hierarchy of content isn't established so my eye doesn't know where to start first, flow to next and/or end on. That's not to say it's not functional but it is difficult at first glance to navigate. As a suggestion, if this were mine I'd trying to break free of the geometric shapes a bit and give yourself more room to move things around so that there is more of an order to the different elements to create some flow/direction for the eye to travel (typically logo/headline being the largest/most prominent, then the main navigation followed by the content such as your about me section). One thing too that I've learned and continue to learn in this class is not to be afraid of negative space/empty space and allow just breathing room to exist for even just your background of which you have phenomenal one! Also the all caps font for you body copy is hard to read but that can easily be tweaked to something similar with lower and upper case.
Overall though great first effort and foundation to build and experiment from. Use your inspirational sites and keep incorporating more elements (like their visual hierarchy) from them and I think you'll end up in a great spot for a final site build. Great inspirational picks btw - I'm definitely noting those down for myself! Looking forward to seeing the final final build of this.

Oooh! Spacey! You've got yourself quite a geometric layout here, Amber. I like it.
A good blend of hard-edged shapes here. Your hexagons, squares, and triangles mix and match well. I especially like how you've aligned the edges so that they make "channels" between the shapes. One of the really neat things you play with here is using lines as basically guiderails to move the eye around your composition. An interesting effect. I also like your use of transparency to create depth. It makes your navigation stand out and be really easy to use. Plus your background picture's so rad that I know you wanted to show off more of it! That nebula picture is a great choice. It's visually interesting, moves the eye from left to right, and establishes your colorscheme. I liked that you pulled your main pink color straight from it. As one might expect of a space themed website you use contrast extremely well. I even like the use of a script type as a softening accent. That works well to break up the had edges and make the thing seem just a little less sharp.
I'm not sure I would have gone with a serif type as the bodycopy in your shapes. The geometric design seems to ask for a sans-serif. The small-caps seems to create a weird leading issue around "TMCC" in your bodycopy. Your left and right margins on your email are quite small. It could use a little more room to breathe.
Nice work.

Hello Amber,
I'm a huge sucker for space-themed anything so I already like this design right away. I like how the nebulae is a line so it naturally creates a flow from one side of the composition to the other without actually drawing attention to the fact that it is doing so. I also like the fact that with the singular exception of the email box you stayed away from using squares and still created a composition where the shapes are working together rather than creating tension. Only a couple of things that seem odd to me but I wouldn't call them errors as they appear to be stylistic choices, but I'll point them out just in case. Where you have "GRC 175" in both versions it appears the "75" has a lower baseline than the rest of it and it creates an interesting sort of puzzle piece effect with the text around it, but since it's not repeated, it just seems like a visual oddity. TMCC in the body copy is also oddly larger than the surrounding text and it looks too close to the baseline of the text above it. Everything else is great though; the composition is interesting and unique and the colors all tie together quite nicely.

Hey Amber
I like your space theme and the hexagons and triangles adding to it. It makes it have an otherworldly type of feel to it.
The vibe of the unknown and curiosity fits and makes it very cool and attractive to me. In terms of what you could make better, I am not entirely sure myself, so for right now, imma say no comment. Nice job.

Hey Amber,
Your design is so unique and fun! I cannot take my eyes off your web or mobile design! It's so cool! I think you got the theme down 100% and the colors are so cute! I love the geometric shapes too! I think your design is not simple at all! I can see that a lot of thought and love was put into these design and I feel it. I definitely think you got the design and theme down. Space is really the move!

This layout reminds me of a board game, like each region is going to be a different quest or something. I dig it. I wonder if there could be anything that could be done with an animation to make these geometric areas rotate, or otherwise maybe highlight or enlarge an area that is hovered over. That's not a suggestion for a change, just a possible idea.

I like that you didn't go with the block format, it really makes yours stand out as an original design. I also really like the layout and how you used a great portion of the area efficiently without overloading the area. As a space nerd I like the nebula in the background as well. I do wonder if some drop shadows or secondary shapes might not help raise the shapes off of the page and I wonder if a shift towards a more saturated aplette wouldn't help giving a bit of depth to the designs as well. I like where you are heads and I am excited to see the next.
