Hey everyone,
so I decided to run with my mustard blue wordle design, because it's more inspiring for me to play with.
I tweaked a few bits here and there, thank you all for all the input.
I'm actually getting a little nervous on how this will translate to coding...But it's a brave march forward.
But I like the idea of playing with the tones and tints more, and seeing how this all comes together.

Hi Kirsten! These look fantastic, I love the use of color and text that is very different but very interesting to look at, the colors balance nicely and everything is easy to read. I might change the saturation of one of the colors since the value seems about the same. Otherwise well done!

The mobile version could have its negative space a bit filled in, otherwise they’re very well done.

Your layouts as did the preliminary give vibes of just happiness and sunshine! Really love the concept of scrambling your name up and making that the theme/concept of your layout - its works very well with that yellow and turquoise color combination. Also you use of negative space creates further intrigue with your theme and the striped background adds a little pizazz while not being busy. A nice little touch and I didn't notice it last critique but the faded image of what I presume is a wood fence or wall - gives the background some additional nice texture and it all blends together with the striped pattern really well. Nice job also changing the TMCC logo color to match that of your website - makes it all come together and not feel like it was thrown in there.

Honestly there isn't anything I would change on thew desktop and for the most part same with the mobile version. The only suggestion I'd give for you to consider is perhaps doing a drop down menu with a hamburger icon so that it frees up your home screen to look more clean whilst giving more room with that pop out menu to do larger buttons since that will be accessed via a phone.

However that's more of a nitpick but something for you to consider when you build out the final versions of these. Fantastic job and looking forward to seeing the final final versions of these!

The motion in this composition is so rad! I'm glad you went with this one, Kirsten.

What a great background photo. It provides great visual interest and acts as an arrow, directing the eye through the composition (to the right on the computer layout and down on the mobile). Really nifty killing of two birds with one stone. I like the wordle too. It takes a second to unwind it with your eye. A nice little bit of brain stimulation. Great use of color, too. Your mustard and blue work nicely together And using tints and shades of those colors to add more "colors" really works here. A lot of visual texture for such a relatively simple layout. Nice use of proximity to group things together. The whole layout is very simple and has very distinctive "sections". Your margins are wide open and very airy, but the design doesn't fragment thanks to the background photo. Good selection with your typography too. It's not a common sans-serif and that adds a little extra visual interest. Your bodycopy in particular is very readable, that is visually interesting. Your navigation is easy to see and use.

I think it would have been cool if the background photo went all the way to the edge of your computer layout, like it does on your mobile layout. Your bodycopy stretches the bounds of legibility. You have a lot of lovely room to breathe, did you really need to squish the TMCC logo?

The background image you chose/created of creating a flow without being too obvious about it. It also has a nice visual texture. I think texture is an often neglected element of design. Teal and yellow together like that are a bold, uncommon color combination but you pulled it off well by making one of the colors, the yellow, more dominant. The only issue I have with the brightest version of the teal is that on the desktop version, on my laptop monitor at least, the colors appear to vibrate a bit. But if you're looking to create movement, which the arrows suggest, then perhaps you should leave that in. I would second the suggestion to have the background cover the whole design on the mobile version and to unsquish the TMCC logo since there is so much room there. If you wanted to create alignment with the bottom of the body copy on the desktop layout, that can be solved by moving that block of text up a bit. There's still a lot of room there between it and the navigation that it will still have plenty of room to breathe.

The web version could have something around the words to make it easier to read. It is readable but, at least to me, gives headaches. I'm not sure if it's because of the mustard color mixed with the blue, but it does look amusing and exciting. I do not see a paragraph on your mobile version, but that might be inside the about me page. Maybe show a different screen with it since I'm pretty sure that was part of the requirements.

I love the color contrast! Mustard is good sometimes. I like it. I definitely think your layout is really organized and clean so I really like that! I also love the word scramble, it's so fun and decorative. I love the shapes in the background too, it gives your design texture. I also think you did a good job keeping things clean even though you have a lot of design elements.

I remember this in the prelim and I am a fan of it. Someone else had a comment on too much negative space. I think your negative space is perfect. With that being said, I might like the placing of the body text on the web version placed a little differently, but I think the blank space itself is a near perfect ratio, I don't feel this is design that you want to cram anymore into.

I like the way you achieved the depth in your design without using photos at all. I like the general geometric designs and how they tie in together. I am wondering if there isn't something you can do to adjust the balance of the composition, the letters in the bottom right corner feel scrunched up and seem like they need to breathe a bit. The color palette is a nice harmonious base but the letters make me wonder if in the overall UI they shouldn't have a function...Overall an awesome start and good luck moving forward.
