I really liked the idea of animation in the website design, whether it be from the buttons themselves or just a video. I wanted to incorporate this with the videos as the background. The one with the vinyl is my experimental one if I have time to animate a simple cat running on the disc. I'm having a simple menu pop up for the phone to show the projects and resources in better detail, like how these two websites did it for their mobile app. The main thing I'm going to change is a more expressive type for the hello, my name is. I want a script, and for the rain glass, I want a fogging effect on it. Although these two websites are more scrolling-based, I want more emphasis on the visuals and will keep it on one screen. I wanted a vinyl player to represent my love in music. The blue and yellow combo is also very striking. I love the gloomy weather but with the beauty of the flower, it just shows my interest in the world.

Hi Nancy,
I think the moving cat will be such a cute addition to your website! I think that I enjoy the second layout more because it best describes who you are as a designer! Something that you could work on to help elevate your layout would be maybe playing with the navigation buttons and making them straight edge and rectangle like. Although the curves match with the circular shapes like the vinyl, making a rectangle navigation bar with buttons will blend better with your design. Hope that helps, can't wait to see what you make throughout the semester! Good luck!

Hello Nancy,
I really like your concept of the cat running on the record, what a cute and unique idea! Out of the two, the first is my favorite, it shows more of your personality and has more visual interest for your viewers. I also like the yellow and blue concept but maybe choose a different yellow to make the design more airy and light, it'll also make your name pop more because the light blue is kind of getting lost in the background. The layout right now seems a bit disproportionate in the spacing of things, maybe make the type and your name paragraph fit a bit tighter in the space. Overall I really like your designs and can't wait to see what you come up with as the semester continues!

Hi Nancy,
These are both great ideas and REALLY different from each other. I can see how adding animation or video as you stated will really help make these design exciting. I'm already picturing never-ending rain in the 1st design. I love the simplicity of the layouts in both and having the navigation at the top makes the UI an easy one. For the challenge, I'd probably go with the 2nd design. You could experiment more with the navigation buttons, adding texture, drop shadows, or more FX to make them look 3D and like real buttons on a record player. Can't wait to see if you're able to incorporate the motion side of things, this will be fun to watch. Nice job Nancy.

Hello Nancy,
I like the concept of an animated asset in your home page. I think that if you implement an animation with the aesthetic of your rose-background layouts you could create a really unique and impressive design.

Hi Nancy!
I really like both of your designs but I think the one with the cat is my favorite. The cat is so so cute, and it also has a really cool retro feel from the record and the color scheme.
I also think your layout is super clean and legible. The only advice I have would be to add one more font. It might be cool to make your name in something else so it draws the eye a bit more. Good Job!!

I gotta' go with your first one, Nancy. It's so atmospheric.
That background pick is an inspired choice. It immediately establishes an emotional tone for the layout. It has such great color, feeling, and visual texture. I also like that you've snagged your colorscheme from it. Using the red in particular as a highlight color for the most important information (who you are and how to get a hold of you) is a nice choice and serves to highlight the flowers in the picture as similarly important. I also like how the dark gray of "Hello, my name is" makes it almost look like someone drew it into the foggy glass with their finger. Your font is a good selection too. It's a rounded Avant Garde sans-serif and works well with this rainy day café aesthetic you've got going on here.
The navigation vanishes into the pale top a little bit. I'd recommend using your dark gray so it pops out a little better.
Great work!

Re: Project 01
Hey there Nancy!
I really like both of your design sets here. I'm leaning more towards the first one, as I think the image really pops and the bright red is doing a good job at pulling my attention. I love the sans-serif font you went with, but I think you could increase the weight of the type in certain areas. Also, there is a bit of contrast issues in certain places, such as the "Hello, My name is" type. If you wanted to keep the colors as they are, I think you could open the image in Photoshop or Lightroom and lower the highlights just a smidge. As for your second layout, I like the cat and the vinyl especially, but the yellow is not visually pleasing to my eye. I think yellow is a super hard color to design with, and I usually avoid it, haha. Good luck regardless, and I think you are doing great so far.

Hello Nancy,
I really like your first rough. The image you used is very cool and very visually appealing. I really like the way you used color to make everything easier to read. I think the text "HELLO MY NAME IS" is a bit too far away from your name and about me section. Nice work.

Hey Nancy, nice job! I really like the second design. I might try changing the font on the type at the top but other than that its great.
