Project 1 Final

Post by jjkusler »

Hi everyone!

Here's my final design :) Everyone seemed to gravitate toward the purple sunset sky, although I did consider my second design for a little. I eliminated all strokes on the boxes so it doesn't seem so outline-like and flows better. I decided to add buttons for "Resouces" etc as I think it looks better and helps with navigation. I also liked the ideas I received about framing my content with my artwork! I chose purple and peach for my main colors, no more black. Overall, I'm really happy with the way this design turned out.

The colors on this one are truly cool, Jenna. I love the interplay between purple, orange, white, and your warm gray.

I love the way you've blended in all your bits and bobs into the clouds. In particular, I like the way your big nav buttons on the left almost refract the cloud colors, like they're little lenses or something. Very cool. The whole layout seems to float with is background image. Cooper is an inspired font choice as well. A very fluffy, cloud like font, ready to float away. Very readable. You use contrast well in this composition. Most things that you want/need to stand out do so well. Great use of margin all the way around. Everything has a lot of space between without fragmenting into a million pieces. Your navigations (both of 'em) are easy to see and use.

I'm not even sure the white background boxes are really necessary, at least the ones behind your "About Me", "Projects", and bodycopy. I think your type would hold it's own against the cloud. Your vector cloud blobs would look even better slighty transparent (though not the type within them).

Nicely done!

Hi Jenna,
Your design is REALLY fun. I'm loving the "in-the-clouds" vibe. Everything seems really easy to read and navigate which is great. The only suggestion I have is to maybe make your web version a little more consistant with the mobile version by removing the 2nd cloud around your projects buttons (kinda looks like a stroke or drop shadow behind the peach cloud that surrounds your "projects" buttons...or add it to the mobile version?? Either way they look great. Good job!

Hello Jenna,

My favorite part about your final design is the sunset color scheme you decided to go with in the end. Your page is easily traversable and every element is very distinguishable. Good job! The only thing I would change is the color on the buttons that will lead to your future projects to a singular hue to maintain consistency. Aside from that, your design is amazing!

Hi Jenna!
I really like how your designs turned out, the colors are all so pretty together!
My only advice would be to move the contact and portfolio buttons, above the about me section, on the mobile design.
Good Job!

Hey there Jenna!
Great work! I think you made some great changes that help balance out your visual weight, such as getting rid of the black strokes and outlines. Going with lighter colors is a great decision. It lends itself to a very fun feeling. For my critique, I think you should play around a bit more with typestyles, specifically weight. For example, I think "GRC 175..." could be a bolder typestyle. Regardless, great stuff!

Hi Jenna,
I think the colors and shapes you've created for your design look great! I think that I would maybe move your email under your "About Me" so that it could move the eye right to your information after getting to know you more! Hope that helps! Awesome work! :D

Hi Jenna,
Nice changes you made! I like how you added the small flowers in your design and how you incorporate the colors with the image in the background. I also like how you fit your image to the abstract shape! You have fun shapes throughout your design and I think it shows your personality. The texture of the image is working well with the design style as well. If I could change one thing. I think I would make the "TMCC" horizontal instead of vertical. Nice work!

These are great designs Jenna! I love the details you've added and the colors you chose. I would maybe make the buttons on the web version a little darker like how you have them on the mobile version. Overall these are awesome designs!

Hi Jenna,
I love the aesthetic you got going on with your background, the clouds look really nice and the colors you picked from it are perfect for your style. There are some spaces I feel that could have benefited from one of those little cloud shapes you made to fill it up. Overall this design came out really nice, great work!
