What up innit, I am Kai! Here is my final for project 1. I took a lot of the advice and chose to do my first design from the critique. I listened to critiques that said to make my image the whole background, I adjusted the Header type for resources and projects so that they are even and just. I also aligned the header type to my name and chose a font for my name that I think really resembles me. I also got rid of my funny little dog and instead put my logo mark that I put on my work. I also made the gradient header bar at the top universal so there is no conflict between shapes up there. I think it works quite well for who I am! Thanks team!

In terms of solving the project issue, I think I made a clean, uniform, and visually pleasing directory page that represents me well and is easy for users to navigate.
Here are my design inspos:
https://dribbble.com/resources/personal ... -designers
https://forums.terraria.org/index.php
https://www.si.edu
These websites all have a simple design that is dynamic (which is opposite from mine but it helps me see the whole gradient of style) and they all play with color simply, and nicely so I tried to reflect that in my designs. They also show me how to sort information in design effectively.
I think I still got a lot more to learn in terms of web design but I believe In myself ^____^

Very ethereal, Kai. An interesting idea you've got here.
The layout is super clean and relies on a pretty nifty background image to do a lot of it's design heavy lefting. I like that crane coming out of the mist background image you've selected. I also like how the mist creates a pseudo bounding box around the composition as well. Your logo with the brush stroke and the crashing wave are fascinating and go well with the background image. Good synergy. Your sans-serif type is very legible and simple, reinforcing the aesthetic you've established here. Your navigation is easy to see and use.
The "Kai Madden" and your bodycopy are a little close to the left side of your layout. I think they would have looked a little better if they were the same distance from the left as the navigation was from the right edge. I'm not sure you needed to put a glow on your bodycopy either. I think it would have shown okay against your background. Same with the blue box behind your type on your mobile layout.
Good work!

Kai! This is looking SOOO good and definitely fits your chill personality. Good work trying to get all of the critiques and suggestions into your design. Using the image as the whole background was definitely the way to go! My only suggestion would be to bring a little more consistency from the web version to the mobile version. I like the transparent boxes on the mobile version, do you think it would work on the web version too? Maybe just for the buttons but not the paragraph? Also I love the blue boarder at the base of your mobile version that acts as an anchor. If I were you, I'd do the same for your web version. Nice work Kai!

Hi Kai!
I always love how much effort you put into your work, there are always little details that push your work over the edge of everyone else's. I also like that your work has these whispy clouds that give the screen a nice texture. I also like how you played with negative space and utilized it to give a calm presence through your work. Overall this is a great composition, and I cannot wait to see more.

Hi Kai!
I really like your design, I think the image in the background looks super cool!
The only advice I have would be to maybe make the text of the mobile version more similar to the computer version.
Good Job!

Howdy Kai!
I love the style and theme present in your layouts! I love how you used the background to create boxes for your type. I am always a fan of the work you create, but I think your mobile layout could use some work. As Johnna said, a bit more consistency between both layouts would benefit you greatly. Lastly, the lighter boxes you are using for project 1/3 are a bit too light when looking at the preview, but they look fine in a larger size. Maybe darkening them just a bit would help readability at all sizes. Great stuff man.

Hey Kai,
I think your designs look clean and the color choices are cool and soothing! I think that maybe for your website design you can use a bar, line, or match the boxes you made for your mobile layout to make your navigation buttons stand out more and help separate it from background. Hope that helps! Great work!

Hey Kai, great designs! The color and image work nicely to create a tranquil theme. I think those drop shadows/ button shapes would also look good on the website layout. Overall, well done!

Hey Kai!
I love the changes you made! I love the typestyle you have for your name and the little wave logo in between your name. The change you made for the image is looking really good too! I like how the image fades in with the background and it's looking really cool. For the mobile version, to match the theme you have, I think it will look better if you change the color of the drop shadow to white instead of black. Nice work!

Hey Kai,
I love the style of your final design. The image in the background works really well with how it's transparent against the soft blue color. I think your layout works really well and the fonts you chose on your mobile version are very nice and fit well with the style. I probably would have used those fonts for the project buttons on the website ones as well, same with the style of the buttons being different tints of the blue since I feel like that worked really well. You could also make the type in the lighter blue button a bit darker to help it pop out more. Great job!
