GRC 175 Learning and Discussion Forum

Hey everyone!
I'm Austin and here's my website! I found this project to be both infuriating and awesome at the same time! I've never understood how to code, especially not a webpage like this. It definitely took me a while to do really anything, even just opening a new file to start working in. I figured it out though after watching back some of the class lectures. They were a lot of help for sure! My design luckily looks pretty similar to what my original design was. I couldn't figure out how to put a drop shadow effect on my name to make it stand out more so it's of course going to be a work in progress. The picture i chose originally definitely helps my design look better than it actually is.

Hey Austin! I love your website! It looks like your rough and its coming out really well! I would suggest maybe making your name color a little bit darker just because its blending in with your background and it makes it a little hard to read, but besides that its looking super awesome! Great job!

This is a great website! I love the colors and the band background is cool. My only suggestion would be to add a black/dark shadow behind your name so that we can still see it when we scroll. Other than that, job well done!

Good start for what you had! You had a pretty "complicated" design too. I can just picture the frustration. I think a little more elbow grease and you can definitely push that out soon I'm sure. Neat on hover button effect by the way

Your website came out great; it looks exactly like your original design. I love the font styles you picked, and the picture looks awesome. I suggest making your name black instead of light gold and fixing the kerning in your name; it will help make your name stand out more. The letters are very close together; maybe adding more space between them will make it more legible. Besides that, the website looks incredible, and I can't wait to see it develop over the semester!

I think your website turn out perfectly as you design. Everything is going well together. I really how you made your navigations easy to use. Only one minor thing is your name at the body copy is a bit hard to read. Great job!

"Infuriating and awesome at the same time" mis pretty much web design there, Austin. Get used to it as you're going to feel it with every website you work on.

Such a kickass background image. A bunch of you have learned the dirty secret of web design. Kickass image combined with simple layout. Nice work with transparency. Your name headline looks like it's a part of the stage or in the smoke. Good margins all the way around too. Your navigation is super easy to use and highly visible. And your serif type actually works decently. I'm a little surprised by that actually.

I think your bodycopy would have looked better either black and scooted up into the bright lights or white and scooted down further into the crowd. As it is, I'm loosing it a bit in the heads and hads at the top of the crowd.

Hey Austin! This is a very cool website. I really like your image choice and how a shape appears when you hover over your links. If I were to recommend changing anything, I would probably find a more contrasting color choice for your font. Some of the words are a little hard to read.
