Project One

Hi everyone,

Researching this project was a little difficult as I didn’t see anything that really represented how I felt or what I wanted. My initial image was to create something with a lot of color and splash. As I went along, I discovered that less color is probably better a lot harder to seek out information on a website when there’s too much visually. So, this is me toning it down. I wanted to do something that would show that I like the outdoors but that I’m capable of creating something that’s neat and clean sharp edges are a good thing, but not always necessary. I chose the colors primarily out of what I wanted it to look like then I went back and made changes so that they were complimentary using the CMYK wheel.
I’m feeling really intimidated by the concept of learning code and building this website. It’s really great to see some familiar names from last semester. I can’t wait to see what y’all put out creatively.

How to Build a Personal Website: An Easy Step-by-Step Guide (2022) (collegeinfogeek.com)
This site gave me creative inspiration as well as useful information on how to build the site and how to make it interesting and draw traffic.
Why You Need a Personal Website | The Muse
I like how this site gave a rational explanation as to why a personal website is important and how important it is to make it appealing to your audience.

HI! I love all the colors on the first. It is different, fun and colorful! I also like your custom logo with your name. If you choose the first one, the mobile flow is good, for the computer version needs some organizing. For the computer layout, for the big purple circle I would either change location, line up differently or use a different shape because it is the same circle as your logo and looks a tiny bit off where you had placed it.
If you use the second, I would adjust your paragraph so there is not a single word on a line. I know you were trying to line up with photo so you might have to change size, or length. I like what your paragraph says, humor and fun is always awesome! Nice job and I like the ideas.

I'm all about that sketchy handwriting second design, Chris. The first is pure chaos. The second has a fun "jot 'em down" quality to it.

The font is probably my favorite part of it. It makes the whole website feel like a post-it note you've scribbled all over. And yet I can still read it, more or less. Having your logo as a watermark adds to this effect as well. It's just clear enough that we can see it but properly faded back. The tints and shades of purple are working together nicely here. They, along with the black and white, make for great contrast and frame your image nicely. Your navigation is easy to see and use. You've got good margins. You're right at the edge of fragmenting here, but everything is still hanging together. That should give everything room to collapse or expand based on the monitor that displays the website.

I'd widen that column to the right a bit. Right now, your bodycopy is squished so tight it's getting some weird breaks. That goes for the text area on you mobile layout as well. I'd be tempted to center your image on that mobile and stick the text underneath. Maybe even have it go over the top of your logo to reenforce the post-it note effect. I'd recommend enlarging the navigation a bit on your mobile version as well so fat fingers can use it.

Good effort!

Hello Chris,

I love the purple design, and that may be a bit biased but I do think all the colors you use in it work together. I would play around more with the layout, maybe pull your photo and intro a bit off the right side. The TMCC logo would look better if it were closer to the rest of the black text, like in your mobile design.

Hello Chris,
Awesome job on your designs, it looks like both capture two side of yourself pretty well. The first design is pure color which is lovely, but I feel the purple design is your strongest design. the composition is beautiful and very neatly done, I feel the fonts really work together to achieve your art design look. And I like how you included like a logo with your initials. The only thing I would suggest is to bold up your type so its slightly easier to read. The main font you that you used for your name works well trying to find something bold while still maintaining the brush effect that seems present in your other type would work good. Overall great job! Can't wait to see your final. :D

Hello! The purple layout looks great so far I love it! I suggest making the black TMCC logo another color and the other black text bear the bottom since they stand out compared to everything else but it’s not a bad thing either if you wanted it to stand out

Hello!!

Your first design is absolutely great. I love the different colors that you choose. It is very colorful. The class is to cluster to the semester and year, that is the only thing that I would change.

Hi! I love the purple design and the choice to use a fun font. The only thing I might change is the location of the navigation on the mobile design or make them a bit bigger. Other than that I like the layout and think it is easy to look at.

Hello,

I like your third mobile web design. The color is so pretty. And it's easy to see that the layout is exactly divided. Also, the logo in the middle seems to match light purple and white. And I think the picture came out clearly and well. I really like the third one.

hi, I really like the second design. The first design is playful and fun but it directs the eye in a lot of different directions which can make it harder to navigate. I think the navigation on the second layout for the web could be improved upon, the mobile layout looks pretty good though. I think if you made your links and resources larger, and moved the body text below your logo and made the logo a little smaller it would work really well, I also like the purples you chose, it looks really good!
