Project01 Preliminary Work

Hello everyone! I'm Lucio and these are my roughs for project 01!
I felt inspired by these two websites:
https://lazybones.neocities.org/
https://rexalted.neocities.org/
They helped me get a glance of how fun and versatile websites can be, and inspired me to take a more personal and creative route!
For my first set, I wanted to to mimic the design of old field guides because I really love the look of the penciled sketches you find in these books. I dont have the text rotated yet because I'm working in Illustrator and want to keep it live in case a font change is needed.
My second set followed a more cork board look, I have one of my own and I keep so many different notes from friends on it that I thought would be fun to try to incorporate into a website layout. Both of my roughs feature coyotes because they're one of my favorite animals ^^

Hey Lucio ,
I love both of these designs I really like how they both work so perfectly throughout both platforms seamlessly. I only would add a square for Project 3 and maybe a few adjustments to placement but these are really good layouts .

Hey Lucio!
I do actually enjoy both concepts!
I will say there needs to be a touch of placement adjusting for both and as for the 2nd design Mobile layout, there's a bit too much empty space, you can actually enlarge the sticky notes a tad bit more!
All in all, wonderful ideas! Keep it up!

Hi Lucio!
I love how you explore both ideas of the field guide and the cork board. They both give off the vibe you were going for. I agree with you that the first set needs to have the type tilted. As for the second set, perhaps adding a border around it would add more of the cork board look. You could also add the pins to the paper texture on top as well, so everything looks like it’s pinned to the board. Both designs are strong aesthetic wise, and it’s evident you put effort into them. Nice job!

Hi Lucio,
Both of your designs are super fun! I really like both, though the second one wins out by wee smidge because of how well the different colors work together. The only thing that stood beyond that is that the mobile design for the sketch version seems a little crowded.

Hi Lucio,
I really like the creative direction you decided to go with your designs, and I love the overall concept and fonts you used for the corkboard design! I also really like your sketchbook design and how you made your portrait look like an actual sketch. One thing I would recommend is to play around with the placement of your project and resource links on top of the addition of a project 3, and to possibly consider how to fill in the small gaps of negative space in your corkboard designs. Other than that, I think your designs are really great and I'll be looking forward to which design route you decide to go with in your final!

Hi Lucio,
I really like the design layouts that you have created. I like them both so much it is hard to choose! The only thing that I could really say is that I don't think that I have ever seen a website that doesn't cover up the whole screen. From what I can tell your first design wouldn't, however it could work out really well. If it does turn out looking strange I don't think that you even need the "tape" to keep it as a strong design. Overall I think that you did a really great job with both!

I think the first one is great. The tape and everything is very tasteful. The words projects and resources should be angled with the post its. I think your name could be bigger slightly on the desktop version. I really like what you did with the pic of your face. It blends in with the rest of the art great. The texture feels real and captures the vision. The animals around the side could be smaller, I think you could play with the hierarchy of size with them, as they don’t seem to be as important as your face. Overall, this is really strong and I can’t wait to see it in action!

Hi Lucio, I like the paper stylized design you used for your first layout, although it's simple, it's also very unique and I like the use of the tape and the animals that look like they were sketched on the paper. The second page layout design you have I enjoy more than the first mainly because theres more going on with it, the pin up board design is very nice and it leaves a lot of space to add more links or projects. I'd say use the second page designs mainly due to it having more opportunities to add to it.

Oh I'm all about that paper bag one, Lucio. That thing looks so cool.
It's all the textures. They're so visually interesting. From the crinkled paper to the shiny tape to the skeuomorphism of the drop shadows. It has such depth. I also like how you made all the images (including your portrait) look like stamps. Your mobile version even has a paw print and dried flowers. Excellent! And you taped of your link buttons so they stand out and beg to be pushed/played with. I like that it's been set on a white background too. Good choice having your class info outside of it, almost like a caption in a scrapbook or a description in an art gallery. Good typographic choices generally throughout this thing. Good margins too. You make excellent use of proximity to group and separate things.
Rotate the text on your buttons so it looks like they were written/printed on the paper bits.
Great work!
